Yaaay, the community has to un-fuck the game to meet the PC standards....it's like Dark Souls all over again.
But thats devs not using stuff thats in the game files. Dark souls and two are more about resolution and adding stuff by intercepting stuff. Its not unfucking as much as sifting through a pile of garbage. That is unless you are refferencing DS2's lightning effects, that just like watch dogs last years E3 presentation effects, got axed hard. Ive seen this shit yesterday on v and some person actaully got it working. Effects such as explosions and especially ground (dat fucking mapping) stuff was awesome, but eveything suffers from Blur for some reason. It hurts to look at the screenshots, game looks like its a simulator of a short-sighted person, everything past 7 meters is blurred to hell.
Developer provides inferior product. Community takes it upon itself to bring the product up to snuff. Similar scenario.
That screenshot with the boat looks really convincing, graphics developers have really been working on flora and water like it's the cure for cancer. The boat kind of gives it away because of the smoothness of its model, but I've seen a lot of models in my time so it stands out to me but maybe not other people. That's the depth-of-field, it's like a radial blur where everything in the focal point is detailed and then as you go out of the circle things are made blurry. It's supposed to look "realistic" even though it's shit because human beings can see their entire monitor at once, monitors don't extend across people's entire field of view.
Ubisoft in general got pretty good at simulating realistic looking water. They already did in AC4. But yeah the boat gives it away a bit. Most of the vehicles in WD look way too pristine. But what immediately tells you it's just CG is are the grass billboards. I think the screenshot of the street at night looks a lot closer to realistic.
nah too dark for to be real, no place in a city is this dark ever. also there is no light pollution in the sky. also for computer gfx you dont try to archieve eye-realistic, you try to simulate camera-realistic.
Depends on the art style really. Sometimes you want to have that camera effect. In that case it could be that dark, just because of the poor exposure settings of the camera. Otherwise yes, you would try to get somewhat close to the human eye. But some effects are difficult to handle without knowing where exactly on the screen the player looks. That's why VR is so much more immerse.
Dark shots in general are more prone to look pretty realistic, since the low lighting can help mask unrealistic elements while viewers are more drawn towards the physics of the lighting.
Turns out there is a line of code in the game, if you dig for it. It enables the e3 graphics, and it was disabled because for consoles. And it wasn't re-enabled for pc's do to incompetence.
Oh, really, you don't say?? Seriously teeth that fucking wording made my day. On a more serious note: Why only PC? As much as I'd like to bash on the consoles, new ones should be pretty capable of that as well, WD isnt the most amazing looking game out there.
You are welcome. Turns out, the xbox one set the bar. It has to run on both consoles, so they optimized the game around the xbox. They just don't pay attention to the pc ports other than making sure they work.
That is not completely true. Sure you can enable all that E3 stuff, the thing is most of it isn't completely working and buggy. Have a look here, if you don't trust my word for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoCVt3gCahE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCTAkQW4758
Hmmm They could have still delayed it for another month to fix the graphics. These bugs look like something the community can fix in like a week.
Remember the game was delayed already. From novemebr IIRC. Thats a pretty big slide and they still came up with this.
Thats not the point. Point is, they couldnt afford to have yet another delay like that. Especially since they said that the delayed it so it wouldnt have to compete with GTA5, not because of issues.
Consoles, consoles, consoles. Ubisoft cares about them in the first place and the PC version is somewhere low on the priority list, hence the delay and inferior graphics. Game still had bugs on release too, as any game in this day and age.
