I don't even game at 1080p, I have an older crt monitor that's 1600x1200. Due to all this money coming in from job though I was looking to grab 2560x1600 or something decent. I want to do more work on this computer but no workspace is killing me. I haven't actually seen much actually push my processor though, I only ever see it go to like 70% usage at most in games.
In 3 years, that might be different. If you stay at or under 1080p, you'd probably be fine. I bet 1440p wouldn't be that bad. The idea is that you don't want to force yourself to use a GPU that will get bottlenecked by the CPU.
Yeah, like I said I was only expecting it to go for another 3 years at least anyway. Not like it really matters, my 6850 is the big bottleneck by a long shot.
Since you don't have monies, your best bet is to try and get a deal on a Haswell CPU once vendors stock up on Skylake.
Yeah, Intel has had decades to master how to temper their stock when transitioning. You're more likely to catch a good deal on a cpu+mobo bundle. They can occasionally be decent, but there's no predictable schedule with that kind of thing. You're more likely to save money elsewhere in the build.
I did give a decent upgrade path that would allow incremental purchases in his thread, amd would be the way to go if you can't really save a 100 quid. As an aside, what's with skylake using ddr3 or ddr4 now? I noticed looking at a build ddr4 system isn't all that much more than a ddr3 one, but I'm wondering who it works with this. Does mobo support both, or one or the other?
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=EURUSD=X Rise my little euro, rise! Papa has to pay for his new CPU in freedom money.
On topic of prices, i was horrified when out of curiousity i looked up graphics card prices. They are fucking skyhigh. I bought a 770 in jan 2014 for 1300zl (for however much $ that equated back then) and it still costs about as much, a year and a half later! what the fuck!
It's a little humbling to see this sort of thing. I'm rather glad that I don't have to deal exchange rate risk. ...Oh and the freedom is pretty good too, so there's that.
I dont know, why uk no euro? Besides, think about all those poor sods coming from berlin to stettin to buy groceries. Not to mention poorfags from konigsberg, where will they get their sustenance?
http://slickdeals.net/f/7836333-intel-core-i7-4790k-4ghz-quad-core-processor-237-or-less The top consumer Haswell chip for only $227 is getting down there. Not quite a good deal, but it's getting closer. Are we tempted or will we hold out a few more months so we can pay ~$100 more for ~10% more performance and probably less overclocking headroom?
