Yeah, ES-2 is our quasi rival even though they dont have RTS eliments. However, we have some things coming down the pipe that will steal us back some players. Iron Grip looks fun but dosent seem threatoning, I dont know why.

I thought Iron Grip was your mod rival? ..Well In all fairness, I didn't see any IG devs badmouth anybody. But the ES team seems to be getting up themselves, as of late.

The hell? Seriously? I would have never pegged Eternal Silence as a competing mod. Iron Grip has lost some of its threatening air because their graphics are no better off than Empires and because both Empires and Iron Grip will have pretty different gameplay overall.
Browsed through their forums... seems like they are getting just as arrogant as the Neuclear Dawn team... They are using cheap tactics to get more attention; oh that pisses me off so much... Oh just you wait until we get aircraft... just you wait... Everyone will fear the Empires hype machine...

Well rival or not, I'll try it out. Seems like a good concept. (Much like Starwars Battlefront 2 which I loved. Just wish you could repair the sections of the ships.) Besides I "LOVE" laser type weapons. (Which I hope will make an entrance in this mod in the future.) Still I doubt it will hold my attention for long.
In reference to all this "rivalry" stuff, I've got to ask the question: Am I the only that can play more than one game? ;O
Yup... I focus soley on one game a time, and I play it non stop until 2 things happen a) I become very good at the game and b) I get so bored of the game that I no longer want to play it... I think thats a bad and a good thing at the same time...

That's an excellent point, Jkun. It really doesn't make much sense for mods to be using competitive tactics, and all it does it hurt the community. Only in cases where the mods have largely the same to offer (Action Half-Life and The Specialists, for example) will people play one at the expense of the other. The gameplay of Empires has become divergent enough from what Iron Grip seems to be offering that I've stopped worrying as much about people choosing one over the other. The competitive behavior of mods such as Nuclear Dawn baffles me, and really isn't good for the community as a whole. Eternal Silence being a rival of Empires makes absolutely no sense at all. Are they just cocks, or insane, or what?
I think I'll do the same. Playing DoD never prevented me from playing The Trenches or the other way around. The down side in current saturday release of ES2 is that I'll be working for the saturday... But if there are servers then I don't see why you wouldn't caught a glimpse of the half-assed and a quarter furious Wereaser doing loop-de-loop around some poor asteroid... :D
I won't be able to play any mods for another whole month, since I'm not getting the money someone owes me for some reason.
