Empires: Perfect union project (playable demo)

    I plan on adding:
    Infantry
    Instead of defining classes, and adding more coding on top of everything else, I am just going to assign slots, this may make one configuration OP over another but it helps me minimize work. So for example:

    Slot1:Primary weapon: Assault rifles, shotgun, sniper rifle, SMG, grenade launcher, rocket launcher
    Slot2:Secondary weapon: pistol, smg, shotgun, revovlers
    slot3: Grenades, sticky grenades, sticky stun grenades, seismic grenades ,mines, flashbang
    Slot4: cloaking device, engineer tool, speed upgrade, damage upgrade, accuracy upgrade.

    Vehicles
    -Afv/light
    -Medium tank
    -anti-aircraft tank
    -APC
    -jeep, with mounted machine gun

    Aircraft
    -VTOL fighter (bomber) jet, you gotta have dog fights
    -Gunship
    -Transport

    Naval vessel
    -Submarine
    -Destroyer
    -Patrol Boat
    -Transport/carrier(maybe, really undecided if this should be a mobile spawner or not)

    Buldings
    -Barracks(barracks/armory)
    -Aircraft factory
    -Vehicle Factory
    -Shipyard
    -Repair pad(Modified to repair vehicles/aircraft)
    -radar

    Miscellaneous
    -ML turret(will detect vehicles and naval vessels)
    -MG turret(infantry)
    -AA Turret(Will detect aircraft only.)
    -Commander will get some special abilities, like cloaking the CV from detection, hacking into the enemy system, and team wide buffs like health, and damage.

    Research
    vehicle branch
    Electrical branch
    bio branch
    chemistry branch
    physics(minus plasma) branch

    But I actually intend to break this all up and do a grid system where it is easier to mix and match the armor and weapons you want and need.

    This looks really impressive.

    I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff, but isn't Unity a 3D game engine for in-browser games? I'm nearly positive Dead Frontier uses it for their 3D gameplay. I had to download the Unity Player to play DF.

    If we're getting a lighter version of Empires built to be played in the browser, this is going to fucking rock. I would consider paying a bit to support the project if the gameplay is promising.

    Unity can do in browser games, however it can still do full fledged download games as well (it allows you to build a release version quite easily). I used it for a couple projects this year in uni and it was a blast to play around with.

    On topic TLE if you ever get this done i would love to pick your brain on all the scripting you did if you'd allow me

    Why snipers?

    Why does every fricking FPS need snipers? Those maps look much bigger in comparison to empires.

    i dont get this either. with huge open maps, sniper rifles get a problem for every other player then those who play sniper classes.
    usually those players have little to no skill (and a small penis), but feel godlike because they get a few cheap kills because they can stay out of range/visibility of their victims.

    its a troll class - all fun you get is by griefing other players since on "huge-open-map-games" its no fair fight in the first place.
    in games with confined space maps sniper rifles usually are overpowered and absurd ...

    conclusion - all FPS would be better of without snipers ...

    I think I would like to help with this.

    The could you pm me an email address you use regularly? I have low poly versions of nearly all the NF aircraft. I was planning on doing something like this in udk but I'd be just as happy to work with you.

    I think it can, if you use a mesh collider or something similar

    Ok, I put together a light carrier for the NF. The red specs are people. The plans on the back are Ravens. It would be cool to have a folding wing naval Raven with its own paint job.

    Noob question: Will this carrier be able to move with players/vehicles on it or will players have to be "seated" and vehicles locked down somehow?

    If players can walk around normally while someone drives the carrier, that would fucking rock.

    He'd have to write a script that takes the carriers movement (or lack thereof) into account when calculating the movement of the players but in theory yes they could. It all depends on how complicated he wants to make everything

    guys look in the scripts section
    there are already some people discussing about boat scripts
    its just not the job of the artist to make that thing work

    but if you could walk around oh man that would be epic. Next make B-52s that you can walk around. This Perfect Union thing is awesome really can't wait for a playable demo.

    Except this thread isn't about Empires Source, it's about this Unity project in which the main developer is Coding, Modelling and everything else in-between. So it's a fair question aimed at the right people. Maybe not Megel, but Elitist at least, seeing as he's coding AND modelling.
