Anti tank rifle.

    Could replace that horrible medium gun the rifleman has.
    Can only use when pron/crouched, 5 round clip, bolt action rechambering speed, no scope, good against small vehicals and turrets.
    Historicly these were used in ww2. Why not empires?

    What do you think?

    Sounds more of a thing for the Grenadier, although you could think up other things for the other classes aswell (Like a machine pistol for the Grenadier) and have the classes overlap slightly.

    Well i figured the scout can Easly dirrect artillery.
    the engineer can turret or deconstruct.
    And the grenader is ultimate anti tank.
    the rifle man is dead in the water should he encounter armor.

    Besides I like having to choose anti tank or anti personel.

    Well, an anti-tank rifle IS a rifle, for a rifleman

    but its also an anti-tankrifle is for an anti-tankclass

    hmm, I wouldn't mind a "grenade" launcher, especially if said launcher could launch several types of grenades (right click ammo box to choose type)

    Why not choose the be a grenadier then? It seems really pointless to me to have a riflemen get a ATR.
    Here is why:
    1) Sure you get the ATR but you don't get the mortar or mines the Grenadier has.
    2) You are basically as vunerable as a grenadier if not more vunerable because you have just a pistol to attack players (I prefer to use my mortar).

    Basically it is a faster rocket launcher, without guidance. Take bf2142 for instance (I know ZOMG). They have the orignal rocket launcher and the pilum. The pilum shell speed travels 6x faster than the rockets, does more damage, but its not guided. But why would they give this AVR more damage in lets say empires, then the actual rocket launchers a real anti-tank player gets.

    To sum it up, if you want to take out tanks, become a Grenadier. To take out infantry, go riflemen. Plain and simple.

    No but you can guide the rockets for moving targets.

    How about a futuristic MP5 with bullpup design, and a grenade launcher with drum underneath? The MP5 could do less damage than the SMG's, but more than a peashooter, and the grenade launcher would be for short range anti-vehicle assaults.

    i really like this gun as it is, and even more when playing on the bsid server.

    u really should have added this to the rifleman post rather than mad e new one. cus there talking about chnages to the rifleman there

    Yeah, but this is a new weapon...i think it deserves it's own thread.

    I think an anti-tank rifle would be pretty smooth; high velocity, low damage against most armour, weak against infantry (either through damage or reload rate). Sure, give it to grens if you must, but I think it would be cool as an Riflemen option, maybe once they get a few levels under their belt.

    As an upgrade, it would be a pretty nice idea. Otherwise they would be too strong in the beginning against vehicles.

    So a combination of machine pistol and grenade launcher? Interesting idea :o

    Doing some searching and having a bit of luck, I've come up with the following:

    The MTAR 21 seems like a pretty good design for a light machine pistol, especially this version seems perfect:

    This reminded me of the NF LAR that was never finished, and got revamped by Archanor (Thread) :

    A good NF Machine Pistol design would be the lower redesign, without the scope and the same heatsink length as the original, but the same heatsink height as the redesign.

    when your finished making infantry weapons powerfull, we'll not need tanks anymore,
    but i wouldn't mind it as an upgrade, as long as theres disadvantages such as not getting body armour or good guns.

    Oh, I didn't mean it as something extra added to his loadout, it does take away his rifle :p

    I love that rifle redesign and Ill prolly model it just for fun if nothing else.

    However, the riflemen does not have anti tank ability because this is a team game. The idea is not to have one class can can run around on thier own (except for the scout, but he helps the team in other ways after we fix him).

    I love giant rifles but rifleman wont be getting one.

    Give it as an option for the grenadier, maybe? Of course he loses his mortar aswell, because it's the RPG in a different setup.

    Won't the rifleman get some anti-tank power when the infantry tech tree is implemented?

    Shotgun instead of mowtar?
    Anyone got any other mowtar replacement ideas?
