Really? You are going to clean up this oh so filthy community of like 50 people? That's the crusade you want to go on? And you are going to do it by making an *example* out of a long time member with emails from years ago (amoung the two posted exchanges so far) instead of setting the policy first, and informing everyone before busting ass.

It maybe doesnt show from the raw text because i didnt have timestamps on, but it was quite clear that guns was using either copy paste to insert chunks of text or was using a macro. You can even see he derped and pasted the same thing twice. That doesnt look like spur of the moment rage.

Also there is no context, thats exactly how guns started the conversation. Missing text from up top is just a bit of an exchange we had the previous day, since steam now archives that for some reason.

 

Not sure where you have been the last few months. But if you'd kept up with developments you'd have known that months ago it was already decided this kind of behaviour would not longer be tolerated. The policy was already in place.

And I fail to understand why we should tolerate this because he was a "long term member". Had this been any other community he'd have his ass burned ages ago, regardless of his long stay with us.

The fact people are going after me and Vicki (especially her) leaves me with a very bad taste in my mouth.
I'll tell you that if I had been her, I'd have called my quits years ago.

Also. This community might be small. But we have plans for the future, and those plans leave no room for people like Guns.

That's a fair assessment. Much better than jumping to further conclusions and accusing someone of bribery... which sounds like something guns is accused of doing and is very hypocritical behaviour.

 

Id like to note that i find that there is a big difference between saying something to the tune of "Im gonna pop a cap in this guys ass" and what whamo said. Frankly it sounded as if he was dead serious about the endeavor, which you can see in him trying to coerce me into working it with him.
Now I still think that this whole matter has been handled very, very poorly, but fuck me if someone is going to be a suspect in distribution of child pornography in the USA because someone twisted my words for his needs. Trying to ruin someones life over this is not my idea of what a sane person would do.

 

A lot of people deserved to be burned Catface. I remember arguing as recently as a few months ago for pursuing punishment. It's been rebuked, for community members with long history, or that are somehow well liked, etc. There is a long history of tolerance that I don't see here, which is my primary reason for calling bullshit, that's it.

I have nothing else in this fight, except fairness. Historically this case is out of place. If this is an in place policy then... great, I wasn't aware. Just keep it clear and consistent, I have nothing else.

I agree with the last half. I most certainly think that someone sounding half that serious about "popping a cap in that guys ass", is on par, and should be dealt with equally.

He sounds serious, but so have many other occasions in the past. When you step back, it also sounds completely and utterly ridiculous and also impossible. He might as well be writing a fanfic because that's not a credible threat and the FBI would be aware of that (this isn't the first time someone has gotten pissed off at server owners). Ridiculous shit that should be tossed? Yes. Less plausible than cap in ass, by an order of magnitude.

But in general, I agree. And I hope to see this kind of policy enforced across the board.

 

No problem. This policy will remain in place, with the same rules applying for everyone regardless of the length of their history or their popularity. Unlike the other cases, this ban will not be revoked, ever.

This is the internet, but I am a real person with real feelings and gave so much to this community w/o asking for anything in return, and this is my payback??

How can you want someone in your midst who would stoop so low as too accused an innocent person of such a despicable act just because he cant play on her server.

The whole concept of guns anger and accusations show how sick and damaged he is and doesn't belong among decent people.

 

Yes, completely and totally agree with this. As FN198 was too "sick and damaged" for a time, and a handful of other examples. And I only call him out because of how strongly and personally I experienced it, not that he isn't maybe a fine and decent gentleman today, but I don't think I can ever fully see that. I've met him, I tried to help him through a really difficult time, and he pissed off the entire community for months on end, but he stayed, got better, continued to be a contributing member.

So when I consider this in the context of that and other incidents, I see a stark contrast in what sort of derangement we have tolerated to stay in this community.

So yes, this is "the internet" and people lose themselves and go off the walls, and we should simply be consistent in how we deal with that, because that's the number one rule of any game, and therefore any game community: fairness.
