It's just seems a bit extreme. I'm sure there are probably other reasons.
But Guns has been around for a long time and has helped bring in some new people. A ban is understandable but permanent seems a bit much without even giving a warning that things are not going to be tolerated any more.

I do see where your coming from with this and understand wanting things to change by removing toxic people from the community.

Would an apology from him even make a difference at this point ?

I understand you not wanting someone who slanders you playing on your server. The part I was questioning was if a permanent ban from the community (servers, forums) was a bit extreme.

He's also aided in driving people away. As said earlier, the fact he's been around for so long only makes it more distressing.

It would to me personally, though I cannot speak for others.

 

I would accept an apology and a promise to change his behavior and people have tried to get him to do just that and all he did with them (ask JGF and some others) was type pages of ridiculous excuses, and did not take any responsibility for any thing he did and acts as if he is misunderstood and then blame others(VIPER admins) for his actions and continue with insults about me

 

I talked to Whammo via chat for over an hour two nights ago, and again last night. My message was repeated over and over again, clearly and finally asking why he is not understanding me.

1) Apologize,
2) Don't make excuses or blame anyone else,
3) Stop being an ass and talking about people behind their backs.

His response was a long list of excuses. Everyone went under the bus. He was being back-stabbed, he was incorrectly accused, he never said anything when proof was provided that he did say. He simply will not apologize. It's against his nature to stop doing #2, 3. But #1 could have satisfied Vicki - I'm sure. CatFace certainly has reason as well to be livid with Guns due to guns actions against making Candles see the shit talk. I know for a fact some people were just blowing shit into the ether. We talk a lot of shit in spec, and can easily be misconstrued. "This game sucks", "Admins suck", "Devs Suck", "Your momma sucks"...

Look - the only time Vicki ever reacts by threatening a permaban is when she is hurt. She is one of the nicest people, but still is the target of abuse from most, MOST of the people in this game. Yet she shells out money every month to enable us a great server to play on. She spends HOURS on HOURS fixing issues immediately, adding enhancements, encouraging others to take part in development in improving Viper. She's up late working on Viper. And still there is never any appreciation shown to her. I had to tell her to ban people when they call her very rude names, that no woman should ever be called. She stands there and takes it. So when you hurt her feelings, it's justification for Permaban.

And although this sounds bad - all a permaban ever is to Vicki is that you stop playing on her server until you apologize. No one has ever been permanently banned from Viper with the exception of "he who shall not be named". You fuck with the queen - YOU APOLOGIZE and she allows you back in. Whammo won't apologize. NUFF SAID. NO justification need be posted. You walk into my house and insult me - YOU get kicked out, never to come back, unless we kiss and make up.

Second - if it were not for Whammo, Candles would not have hurt feelings. Whammo seems to thrive on pitting people against each other. Vicki knows what it is like to be hurt, and she protects those who are hurt. This really bothered her, almost as much as it did Candles. Losing Candles was a major loss to the community.

Whammo is the sleazy cheese that is too sleazy to tell you to your face what he thinks of you. He works behind your back trying to get you into trouble. He's done it to me frequently, but I do admit I deserved it, and admins should not be allowed to act badly. And I still want him in the game. He's a great player and com. I talk to him often about cars, and shit, but I don't trust him.

See my first post in this thread - I was the first in this thread to stick up for him. I still want him to stay, but I want him to apologize too! He's hurt alot of people, most of which do not know what he's done, and Vicki will not expose all of who he complains about. You should be able to complain about players to admins and server owners. It's checks and balances. But we will not react based exclusively on someone's word. We will watch for more infractions. It simply draws attention to a potential issue.

 

I still don't get what he's banned from. All servers, just VIPER (weird since it's closing), the forums?

All this drama is highly unnecessary since the mod is free and anyone can create a new steam account and play it haha. Banished from playing on that one steam account, k.

tl;dr: He's now going around telling people that Vicki is a distributor of child pornography and running some type of ring, trying to bribe people and saying he'll report her to the FBI.

I've seen more outlandish, off the rails stupid shit said about people in BSID chat, EPIC chat, pugs during and after games, pretty sure we have recordings of some death threats somewhere in the logs. People get pissed and say shit.

So let's be clear, you are upset at guns, for, among other things, recording people and talking shit about Vicki and trying to stir shit.

You are now having people record guns (postmortem), talking shit about guns and trying to stir shit saying he is bribing people.

If you have nothing else from the incident, which at this point it seems you don't, that pretty much confirms that this was a spat between Vicki and Guns, recent, both are naturally upset about it, and somehow that is proof of wrongdoing. How fucking long have you been in this community Catface? This is utterly mundane, albeit stupid shit Guns is saying, but welcome to Empires Mr. Lead Dev, this has only been a normal occurrence since the game went public in the source community. The only difference between Guns and others is Guns has been around much, much longer. You basically are punishing what has turned into his obsession (as happened with FN198 and countless others), except in this case you seem to think it's somehow more extreme. If this is your damning evidence, I think it definitely is not.

But the games keys? You clearly don't know Guns very well, that is what he does. He watches for free games and gives out keys. Check his stream profile, he has 1098 games from doing that. Not likely bribing, just normal behavior.

Also. Even if what you are saying is true and this is "mundane" (with which I disagree, even though I am well aware about some of the most infamous cases of BSID and EPIC shittalking), this still will not be the norm anymore. This will not be accepted. That is the new policy, and we (yes, plural) are sticking to it.

 

I get this is from your perspective Z10M. He's punished and upset, sooo, you want to provide context or do you expect him being upset and saying stupid shit to you after the fact is somehow going to stand as a permanent ban from the forums?

This is the same as I've seen over and again, from people tolerated and purposefully allowed in this community. Still with security, this is long term ban material, but I don't know how this is any thing more. I see no Mr. DERP level type shit here, just an obsessive angry player like half the community has been.
