I have never seen anyone really play on epic for at least... the last 5-6 months or so. Is there a reason for this? I know a bunch of times there is a majority of US players, but I remember seeing a bunch of euro players on too. It would be nice to play on Epic sometimes, mostly so we actually see a variety of maps instead of money,escort, dust storm and repeat.
Amerifags butthurt about euros handing their asses to them on EPIC, cry about ping, populist-propaganda everyone over to VIPER, where they proceed to get their asses handed to them by euros.
Because for some reason even people who are native to the epic server even have connection issues even though it's in their region. Yes viper is host here in Chicago and yes it has a bunch of shit we don't like but it's stable compared to epic's server.
I dunno, whenver I hang around on EPIC, only 1 or 2 guys join up, but the majority somehow ends up on Viper.
There aren't any connection issues I'm aware of with EPIC server. I don't remember if I got round to adding the (superior) turbo that we use or if I never got around to it. But no, there are a fair few reasons why EPIC doesn't get used as much. It was always the home of the more hardcore players, of which there are few left. There aren't any "fun" maps on EPIC like Rainbowroad, Hobbes or Octagons. On top of that, I've always used a mapcycle rather than a vote because I don't really feel like players are capable of choosing anything other than the same 5-10 maps 100% of the time. Simply put, EPIC is a server for tryhards, and there aren't many tryhards left sadly.
yeah right trickster. the difference between VIPER and EPIC is that admin abusers on VIPER deny abusing or even deny being admin while abusers on EPIC abuse blatantly and shove their privileges in your face.
What are you talking about, the mapcycle is a (relatively) recent addition to the server. Like, within the past 18 months. Everything else tends to hold true though. Europeans tend to prefer the larger player counts and like to play more seriously on average than the Americans do, and as such they will more rarely seed a server. American's will be fine with small playercounts and alltalk enabled and will more likely seed a server. Amongst American's though, there's a distinct tend towards seeing VIPER as the "fun" server, with fun maps and fun admins and fun whateverelsehaveyou. So that's why we don't play on EPIC. Because people tend to seed VIPER.
We have this discussion like every two weeks. And although you may say "fun admins" VIPER has probably the game's most obnoxious admins right now. And I don't just mean JGF, I mean like all the random "vets" that vicki keeps giving admin to.
I feel like there is this frustrating catch 22, where everyone likes to play large games but no one wants to join unless there is already a large pop there. Also admins I don't have ever really bothered me, and when the player count is real low I don't think anyone objects to some of the crap they do. Honestly, who wants to play duststorm with 4 people on each side?
I just came back to say that i find it both infuriating and hilarious, that craig of all people is upset at someone for being a shit admin. You know, the person who has no qualms about exploting maps? Love the fact that D recorded the anti Comgrad banter though.
The server isn't a great deal older than 18 months. I guess it's about 2 years now, maybe a fraction more. Before that, it was Napalm's box.
