New GUI idea (for next empires version) with a picture

    Well instead of just saying "we need a new GUI" I decided to take it upon myself to make a mock image of how I think the GUI can be like with less clutter:

    Hey, that looks quite nice :D
    Could make the game feel more immersive to shrink back the gui like this

    Could make it smaller by using the standard square for the minimap, vertical health and sprint bars and a total ammo counter.

    One way or another, I don't have a problem with the current GUI at all :)

    one problem with that: no ammo remaining display, just ammos in clip

    well obviously there could be minor tweaks (so an ammo remaining display could easily be integrated) what I mainly wanted to present was my idea for a GUI that doesnt take up much room on the screen

    One thing I have to say, I don't see the circular map working. We need the full map in the HUD.

    well then we take dee's idea and make it a square, same basic principle as my circle idea

    but I see where you're comming from

    also, I really dont like the idea of losing the entire left corner of my screen to my HUD. The current one, it blocks bits here and there, without large obstructions. its good idea, but needs ALOT of work.

    loosing all your left corner is basically the same as loosing all your top right corner to the minimap, except in my version there's no bits on the other corners.

    for example

    you have big bits on all the other corners. Also you should take into account the squad menu (not in the pic)

    the minimap is better placed in the default. its spacing from the edge means you could still see movement over there, and then turn to see it better. your suggested minimap FULLY BLOCKS that corner.

    and I also said on my post:

    The reason its 100% visible with no transparency on the pic is because I made it on ms paint, also if you really want to you can even turn the transparency 100% if you're a realism buff who wants to be "hardcore" It's more versitile that way.

    I honestly dont see why you're so opposed to my idea, it's much easier to "get" in my opinion

    i'm not opposed, i'm finding the flaws so they can be fixed. i like the idea, but it needs tweaking and fixing first.

    I like it, EXCEPT since all the models have their guns on the right side, so the view is already kind of blocked, how about putting the minimap over there? Or would that be worse, cause instead of a partially obstructed view on both sides, you have a completely obstructed view on one side? It might also block the ammo counter on the BE guns, which krenzo worked so hard to implement, so... that idea might not fly.

    OR putting EVERYTHING at the top of the screen... but looking at your health and ammo would be a pain in the ass, then. So idk.

    Overall, though, I like it, and I've been browsing other forums saying simpler HUD/GUI is better, so it's much needed.

    The current Hud is a bit clunky to be sure, although I was thinking less of a reshuffle and more of a clean up - elements like health, stamina, and engy building health as well as ammo remaining can be much smaller and stylish like in many other games. They just need a 'makeover' because right now they are functional, just not so pretty...transparency was also a good idea.

    I like this new hud idea; its small practical; and it maches the circular voice command menu... Ill draw up some more ideas tomorrow :D

    I agree, and it's much better to have larger stuff at the top instead of the bottom. TBH the current HUD really isn't very clunky anyway.

    I like the old one.. it only needs to be a bit less opague (as in more see through)
