I said earlier that I don't like the idea of 4 legendary wrestlers being able to take on 64 gobbos. I just don't like the idea of champions in general. They ruin the purpose of massive armys of conscripted cheese makers.
... ya know when i make worlds, i base it off the normal world... and then make it batshit crazy. for example if the default demon count is 80... i make it 800. if you dont need legendarys, then u live in a boring world/region. example of my last 40d fortress at embark... CLICK ME
there are no legendarys anymore well, there are, but they are now as a noble position, but then granted by other nobles and they have no effect on actual skill in battle (and battle is kinda made harder to get uber good at) i want to play, but i want someone to explain me how to get a squad of guys training in the barracks i cant seem to do it
Currently the default demon count is finite, the same as other omni-present pests such as mice and worms. I don't need legendarys when I have hordes of cheese makers at arms. In the previous version that was extremely buggy, you would get migrants like crazy most of them are pot-ash or cheese makers so I give them an iron hammer, armor and tell them to take on the world. Is there anything wrong with that? An iron hammer and breastplate to take on the world.
Hell and Demonic Fortresses are not the same thing. oh and also... i challenge 100 iron hammer equipped cheese makers with a single zombie goat. i am certain i will be victorious. (unless combat has somehow changed) edit: "As of 31.03, undead have a health point system. So, in toady's words: "Undead aren't quite where they need to be yet (skeletons in particular still don't understand how the skull and spine should be holding them together), but they are more killable in this version. Since they don't make sense in the first place, there's a sort of hitpoint system for them now that'll get them dead eventually if you don't break them apart, though punching a skeleton to death takes a long time in this system and maces are still a bit underpowered. The undead HP will be revisited once the undead have more of a basis in the underlying reality. I'll get to maces etc. sooner." i q.q'd
I just tried in arena, your goat wounded one dwarf before getting knocked into lava. If that isnt enough I did it a second time it didn't wound anyone and it was just plain struck down.
Ok, just try the 100 cheese makers against a forgotten beast made out of steam. And for my fortress idea, i'm thinking i'll make my starting 7 all have military skills only, or at least a majority of them, them try to set up a stockade in a cavern. As more settlers arrive, i'll move into the deeper levels, and if i find one, a demonic fortress.
Are you guys really considering playing 40d when .08 is out? wtf? You do that, post screens. lulz ensued
Not really, i think we've basically decided to play .08. Are there any requests for world gen parameters? I'll gen the world and get a map up to show tomorrow probably.
I'm up for participating in this, I'd prefer we do the newest version, but I wouldn't mind 40d either. And relax blizzerd, I've gotten far better compared to last time :V. A major plus in 2010 is that you can get magma no matter the map, you just have to dig far enough down. I'd rather we not have too many rules regarding max amount of x and y, as champions are not as useful in this, due to the large amount of combat things you can get experienced in.
Medium non island up the civilisations more evil squares use genesis mod if possible, vanilla is boooring remember to remove z ,d ,r ot whatever it was from the init files, so your game wont pause for stupid reasons such as birth evil marsh if possible, evil ocean or their joyous wildreness counterparts 3x3 embark is most cost efficient. reduced lag, 100% adamantine chance
