A suggestion for a model that already has a model? >.< This doesn't belong in the suggestion forums. It's counter counter productive >_>
no, I'm suggesting that this suggestion is a proper suggestion, making it not belong in the suggestion forums, as it is actually a good suggestion with a decent amount of thought and effort put into it.
As long as the range of effectiveness decrease at a geometric rate going from the post and information is off realtime or works off of sightlines like turrets (making higher ground actually valuable), I would be comfortable with this information turret.
I'd rather it just worked like a camera, having bizzare falloff rates and sightlines just makes it over complicated. As I said, you could rework how targets work, the red diamond is a bit poor, but it should be applied to all systems which paint targets and should be simple.
I'd prefer attack orders work like the orange diamonds, but pinging a bit more frequently. Real-time is overkill. I imagine sightlines would be like a ray shooting like a turret towards enemy targets visible by friendly infantry. Makes more sense as a powerful camera anyway.
I like this suggestion, There is a fair amount more that could be done with intel and orders and this would certainly reduce a lot of unnecessary micromanagement. If only someone would finish the fog of war overlay for the commander, then this would be more visibly useful and commanders would have a better idea of the extent of their vision. The top of the NF model looks a bit bare, I feel it should have a radar dish or satalite uplink or something on it but that is just my opinion. As an aside you might want to look at some of the points raised here where I suggested turning the radar into one of these and see how this avoids the same issues.
I fully support this idea as it stands, as long as BOTH models are shorter than fully built walls. And thank you for making a model, more suggestions need models.
I think that this should basically work as an upgraded radar/camera, able to track both vehicles and infantry. It would help both commander and player spot enemy targets, and still tie into comm targeting. How comm targeting should work is as follows: He can only specifically designate targets among those detected by listening posts. That way, the commander can retain a modicum of influence in regards to target selection. He should also be able to give offensive attack area orders, if he doesn't already (I don't notice).
They're slightly taller, I think. The idea is you don't build these just anywhere, hide them behind a cliff or something.
I like this idea, though it would need to be balanced with play-testing (clearly). The biggest problem is balancing them on large versus small maps.
