I believe that humans have been net positive on the planet. Human societies thrive on a stable environment and we are one of the few species that have been able to provide that on a large scale. While that disrupts the natural cycle of the planet, we have to realize that the natural cycle is cruel and destructive. Floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, earthquakes, volcanoes are all part of the natural world that engender extreme devastation on the various wildlife of our planet. We have saved countless animals and plants when we actively seek to prevent these disasters. How can we say that something that has killed so many forms of life is unequviocally better than human intervention?
We're the only sentient force on the planet I've no problem with people telling me we should be better, because we should. But don't tell me it's always raining, when I can see the sun blazing through. If you really want to do something, try to drop the 'we all suck' feeling and and see past those clouds...
