If its so easy why don't you go and dominate as gren?
Because I don't like playing it and I haven't learned how. Also I never said it was easy (apart from mines) I said it was the best.
A gren can't do much against a good rifleman without terrain advantage or a lucky shot, so I don't see how you think they are the best infantry class.
Any time a gren has even the slightest cover they have a huge chance to beat a rifleman. And even on open field they have a good chance with pistols.
Have you ever even seen a good rifleman charge walls and kill a whole squad? Grenades can also circumvent cover, in fact it's much easier to lob a grenade over a wall than a mortar. If they're standing in a tiny cluster, then they should expect to get blown up as a group. And it's god damn hard to hit a moving target dead-on with the mortar. But if skill doesn't matter, I'd say scunt rifle is the best. Headshot is an instant kill from any range with a quicker cycle time.
When I say the best but still shit, I mean it. There's no point in being the best against vehicles if you can't actually kill it.
And if your APC is getting blown up, then look at the fuckin' ground already. Unless you have an actual excuse of being partially blind, then it's no one's fault but the driver.
Fair enough, maybe I should revise it to a reasonable amount of skill, and yes a rifleman can charge a wall and get 3 kills before having to reload but two mortar shots while jumping out of cover on any map with a narrow section or any game with large wall battle lines can destroy like 5 at a time.
I see plenty of mortar and rpg vehicle kills.
Go on any map with a bridge and say that. And no area denial isn't a valid point for why mines should exist, because area denial basically means free kills on any map that has any slightly narrow areas.
Oh my god. This is so stupid.
As Candles already said, the scout rifle is objectively better at killing infantry. I know that you then said "a decent amount of skill" or somethinglike that, but with a decent or average amount of skill, the rifleman still beats a gren hands down. The problem is that many of the "average" grens that you face are actually quite good, else they would be playing rifleman.
Ok, let's assume that grenadiers are the "best" class at killing heavy tanks. Oh look, I fired off one rocket before I got nuked! Yes, I'll agree that grens can shred paper tanks, but tbh, so can any other infantry class (yes, even an engineer if you're careful about walls), and once the opposing team gets an armor, the grenadier becomes obsolete if the tank driver you're facing isnt't stupid, as he can pull up next to the gren, jump out, and kill him while the gren reloads his rocket/mortar.
Again, don't be stupid. Range doesn't count for that much when destroying buildings if you don't have the ammo to spam them. A lone engie could conceivably take out a main if he's careful; a lone grenadier cannot.
I'll concede this point to you: on non-escort maps, grenadier was once tied with engineer for best tank driver. However, this advantage has since been mitigated by the fact that vehicles now have limited ammo, and by the fact that with the advent of 2.4, everyone thinks regen sucks again and nobody goes for it anymore.
How do you fire two mortar shots while jumping out of cover?
The gravity was so low it took that long to jump out of it.
It's not easy, but there are many players in this community that are very good at it.
It's like a sniper rifle in many FPSs. If you hand it to a noob, he will probably waste it. If you hand it to an experienced sniper, he could dominate. So certain placements of a sniper rifle on a map can be OP for one team or another.
So just because Urethra can't do jack shit with gren doesn't mean the class can't be OP.
Jump out, do the crouch, fire a mortar shot, strafe into cover, repeat.
If you can't switch to gren for 10 seconds to defuse a few mines while inside your own barracks, you deserve to die.
can't judge a class by how commie plays it. He's good at all classes. If you think gren is bad, just wait til you nerf it to hell and he goes rifleman.
The quote wars.... they have begun.
I Have Concluded That Urethra Franklin Does Not Earn A Vote Or Even Earn The Right To Have An Oppinion With Anything Gameplay Related To Empires Cause All He Does Is Play Scout 24/7. This Guy Is Complaining Bout Mechanics He Has Never Used Himself And Is Talking About Scenarios He Has Never Even Gotten Into Himself. Bullshit All The Way From This Guy.
Thank you for your carefully reasoned argument whereby you have managed to demonstrably prove that mines should not be removed from the game.
discussions like this end in nothingness, it always ends in nothing. Trickster has the last say in all of this always, and he doesnt give a shit about what you guys are saying he'll keep mines no matter what you do or say.
take away mines and tanks will get op.
anyway urethra doesnt get an oppinion
I've Been Playing Scout For The Most Part For A Few Days But I Mainly Play Engineer And Rifleman, I Do Rarely Use Grenadier But It Doesn't Fucking Matter To My Arguments.
Anyway Paradox doesn't get an opinion because I can make his name sound like "pair o' cocks" with a slight misspelling.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and it doesn't matter what it is.
Discouraging people to speak their minds destroys community.
As stated before, I am going to keep a firm on reducing the amount of mines you can place by half, because people use them to grief more than actual game use.
If its done like that people don't have a choice but to ask somebody if they want to 9 mine something.
Keep the damage the same, just instead of 9 mine you 5 mine.
You don't get an opinion because you continue to ignore arguments and simply believe you are right.
Mines are one of THE BEST weapons against tanks in the game. If you don't want to hit them, you need to forgoe the support abilities of being an engineer, or the speed and no radar signature of scout. Believe it or not, Grenadier is 75% support in it's most effective role. It's best use is to take out turrets, harrass vehicles and provide cover for teamates while denying area by use of traps via mines.
Engineers, scouts and riflemen can all kill other players far more effectively than a gren.
Separate names with a comma.
