Good! Understanding lighting took me a while too, but it's a pretty central concept in 3d modeling. Don't take anything I say as 'official' though. I'm just another dude who fiddles about with this stuff when life permits. That said, there is probably no need to have 100% perfect smoothing groups for LODs. Especially the lower ones. I mean look at the infantry lods, those turn pretty lo fi pretty fast. No one is going to tell that those wheels are blocky when they are one or two pixels tall.
do what you are doing, everything that gets done is something that is done - but you should consider creating lods for stuff that actually matters. the cv is in the scene once in worst case, a jeep/apc/tank might need to be drawn ten times - thatd be ten times less verts then.
Well, I knew it. Chrono gave up after expressing ample interesting in contributing to the mod, only to later find out it requires a lot of knowledge and experience. Looks like he ragequit and most likely won't produce anything usable, let alone return to this forum. You are welcome to prove me wrong, chrono.
Freak continues to hold the asshole torch. I wonder if juice will fight him for the title when he comes back.
