Just my own thread to show what I am working on. First I was thinking about remaking the mortar, but then we encountered a lot of problems with it I can't simply fix with a new model. Then I went on to grenades and well...noticed that the hands for the first person models are a real mess. So I started working on this:
TF2 had sandwich update. Empires will have hand update. Looking at my own hand the meaty part between the thumb and the pointing finger needs to be bigger (in your model, not my hand) The wrist is kinda underdeveloped and that bump on the wrist is just not there on my wrists. I circled what I dislike about your model
The bumps are normal....For in shape people :/ The arm looks great but maybe it should be a little darker.
Thing is: every hand/arm is different. And I assure you this is pretty much my arm without going into micro detail. And yes I changed the color slightly.
Multicultural! Maybe we could have different colored hands for each class? There's a lot of white people at the moment! Haha, whatever works. You art people are awesome.
Theoretically you could give them different skin colors for each weapon they hold. But that would probably clash with the world model. In any case, that's me done for the day, will probably make the lowpoly tomorrow and do bakes and stuff.
im with wookie, the inner wrist bone could be more defined. but knowing that hands are among the hardest things to get right, respect.
Well can you describe a bit closer what you mean? Because if you mean what I think you do...that area is completely smooth on my hand.
The world models are randomized anyways between 3 different models for each team (and an additional 3 for BE engy). You can just make one of them black and they'll randomly come up. Viewmodels wouldn't really sync up but a player doesn't really look at themselves anyway. Hell, third one could be Asian, or Hispanic in style of one of the BE pictures in command view. Semi-related note, if you're redoing the arms, you're still going to keep the third hand right?
That's exactly what I was thinking about. That would be awesome. I hope they do that when they redo player textures.
There's a third hand on one of the be guns. I think it's smg1. It pulls the charging handle thing back when you reload. Widen your fov to see it. For example, change your launch options to -w 1920 -h 800 to barely see it. Decrease the height to see more of it.
You also can see your own head move in from the side if you move just right with a wide FOV, Freaks me out when I'm high.
Are you planning to make models of heads to add variety? IE each class has different head models or uniforms.
Actually almost every single view model (first person) weapon has three hands in it because whoever made them was too lazy. These hands are meant to replace all of them for the weapon overhaul. Smithy and me will most likely make new first person view models of them. Maybe we'll tackle the player models at some point, but one thing at a time.
