Do you think it'll take that long? I think 10 min would be fine. Get everyone in spec. Put each captain on a team. Ask players to join their captains when they get picked.
Last time we did the draft (sloppily), it took 15+ minutes to pick the players alone. Regarding the indefinite ban, you're overly dramatizing.
i think you should do 1-2-2-2-2-... picks - always appeared fairer to me and its about no increase in organizational work ... just my opinion
or do the draft before the match with the two captains in a teamspeak server who are just reading names off of a list wow how did no one see such a glorious idea. Now we won't have to ban everyone.
But you don't know who shows up, so what if you end up drafting absent players. Glorious idea shutdown.
If only 10 people show up the event will be a fluke. But if 55 people show up and Spike and YouzY couldn't make it for whatever reason but were drafted by someone then suddenly the draft got you fucked.
That is why you make reserves. This isn't rocket science. Though I hate drafting, teams are more stacked in drafts than free picks. Hmm, I got an idea. Check the feedback thread.
You do if you have all the players offhand. by before the match I meant literally right before the match, just have everyone sit on the server while it's on district or soemthing while the two captains are making picks. When picks are done you post up the teams, then change map and play.
That's exactly what we did that one time, it was okay but a little sloppy that one time. It can totally work and I support this. Hell, we're actually going to do just that.
I don't get it, if captains know who is good players they are both gonna pick them first, so it ends up being a lot harder to stack that way.
I don't get it either. If you have knowledgeable captains and both captains are required to try their hardest to assemble a competitive team, then stacking is literally impossible.
No it isn't, stacking will always exist regardless what situation it is. Giving people the power of choice only makes it easier for people to abuse it. Blindfold picks or putting 30 names in a hat and taking turns pulling each one out insures better balancing than Cocks on one team and epics on the other.
You're implying that one captain is a tryhard while the other is a retard, and that is not the case. And the random pick does not ensure no stacking. In fact, I'd wager that if you put 10 good players, 10 average players and 10 newbies/random noobs into a hat, you'd get imbalanced teams more often than not.
Agian, I want evidence because I have done this shit for years and it has not failed me once. The only time I got imbalances was when somebody crumbled up all the papers of people he wanted on his team, and simply feeling them out in a mess of flat slips versus ball wads of paper. Try my idea and tell me its shit afterwords not before and saying its stuipd and wont work without any prior knowledge.

No, you can just set it to that, do the picks, then set it to 10 mins once people are on the correct side.
Yes, just glide over the argument about drafts straight to the other one. It may not have failed you and your friends, but it has failed in many other places. The example that comes to my mind is "groups of death" in sports tournaments where 3-4 amazing teams/players get drafted into the same group. It's as if your lovely auto-assign, assuming no player machinations (or I guess RNGing up the answers and telling the players to avoid that), put7/10 good players on one team and left the remaining three scrambling to match them in the other.
