    die, bitch! die! :P
nah Whats the point? A comm deserves to be punished for having one infantry sneak up to the abse! Hell they shouldn't even be able to get anywahere near the base in the first place.

The problem is, some people here(I wont name names) can't grasp the idea that it is easy to defend against them if you know what you're doing.

However, like any zealot, the information that contradicts them goes in 1 ear and out the other.

Trust me, this reminds me of so many science debates on religious forums.

Person 1 - "Lawls god did it!"
Person 2 - "Here we have evidence of that the earth is greater than 6k years old"
    Person 1 - "But...The bible, Lawls!"
Person 2 - "Just look at the evidence!"
    Person 1 - <Hands over ears> <Insert the person yelling scripture over and over>
    Person 2 - "...Screw it"

I'm at the "Screw it" point because some people just want to stay ignorant :(

But "he" can't get it. It must just be easy for us so we're being punished for it ahahahaha.

    Nuts to that.

Yep Command & Conquer 3 on a lowish medium setting.

Anyways spam turrets (preferably level 3s) & you'll keep those ninjas at bay. (Worked for me earlier today, even spam a few level 3 MLs & stopped a few APC & tank rushes ^^ My team managed to hold them off long enough to win by tickets. Yay!)

Because fighting turrets is more fun than fighting players.

You will fight the turrets if you are alone... Then the commander will pop out and put a bullet in your ass. If you are with a team, after a mortar shower you will kill the com...

So what if 1 player can end the game? I can end the game alone in any way, lets see my options:

Get a 3 Nade APC sneak in and kill the enemy base (Its ease to do, as a 3 phase APC can zoom inside any base without even loosing all of the armor)...

get a light tank and again rush in killing the com, swiching missles/cannons to do max damage...

Go gren walk the entire map for half hour for a small chance of 9 mining the com...

    ****

As you can see everything above is a sort of "Game Ender" that once that happens the enemy will say "Shit, GG"

Ninjas are easy to defend against, they are fun also if you manage to pull one off... If you get killed IN YOUR OWN BASE, you deserve to loose (Because how in the world would that 1 man would be able to sneak into your main base? if the front suddenly collapses and you can't even defend against 1 infantry man, how can you expect to hold out against an entire team, that has tanks?); if you get killed on the front line, then WTF WERE YOU DOING ALONE ON THE FRONT?

so because its easy to defend against something like 9th mine we can ignore it being overpowered?
I'm still pretty sure 9th mine has always been a bug but Krenzo just decided to keep it in.
I don't play that often anymore but everytime I do play games end around the time one comm has researched level3 turrets, or just by infantry and an apc, or infantry and one light tank, or 1 or 2 light tanks with better armor and engine. While these games never get far into a proper mid or end game and when they do its because of level 3 turret spam, in which case the team that does not have it is screwed. You can continue talking about that ninjas are stopped by base defence or whatever, but nobody even bothers to arguement on the fact he said games end prematurely, or about 9th mine being overpowered on its own, not its use for ninjaing.
Almost all suggestions in this thread have not been saying to "remove" ninjas, im pretty sure nobody, definitly not me has mentioned anything that would say its not easy to defend against ninjas.

Not sure what you ment by saying "So what if 1 player can end the game? I can end the game alone in any way"
Are you saying its ok that one player has all the arsenal to end every game, making it absolutely pointless to have any kind of strategy in a hybrid rts game? Or even have any kind of teamwork required to win a teamwork based rts fps? Because that what it sounds like to me. Which just enforces the point Rampant android was trying to make, while most of the players on the team piss away 15 minutes building up a base etc it all goes down by a single guy. Huge waste of time which I agree with, you can waste all your time getting the best research, nukes, arty, but sadly its not as effective as ramboing all the way through the game.

Any "alright" defence is breachable, with ease. I dare to say with ease. From the point on level3 turrets are spammed, nothing gets through, as you are fighting turrets and players. If this game is so balanced, why am I still seeing level3 turrets being the prefered research, over what 30 research items its the same 3 every game? Of course you always have mandatory research, but this goes beyond being mandatory, you either have them and stall the game, no matter if you have teamwor or strategy, you don't need any of those when you have level3 turrets. Or you do not have it and risk a 100% chance of getting the game ended prematurely by a single guy, bypassing a whole team. One player teams are ok, even if its the commander. Not if it comes at a cost of having less indepth strategies, teamwork and tank battles.
Why is it that every game I see its lots of rambos, I think its because its the most effective thing and everyone knows its from experience.

I think the game could use more high tier tank battles and more teamwork and better commanding. I'm not saying it never happens, I've played many great games with awesome tank battles, but in my experience these only happen 5% of the time. And this is speaking of games without higher multipliers.

No, I designed the mines to explode when they're deleted, and I designed the mines to blow up other mines in the area. I just never expected it to be such a big deal.

    That's the thing.

It's not overpowered if its easy to defend against. That's the entire point.

You wanna know why turrets are preferred?

    Turrets > nerfed tanks.

maybe tanks shouldn't have been nerfed, eh?

I know how to fix everything, seriously.

Remember how it used to be when research was cheap, and not as expensive? We go back to that(at least find middle ground). Remember when tanks were tanks and not paper weights? We go back to that as well.

Tanks need to be powerful against defenses and if research was cheaper, and took less time, then we could get better tanks faster.

Too bad the good old days are gone and what we have atm is painfully slow research with somewhat expensive tanks(decent tanks).

The only way to get a decent tank now is go for composite armor, heavy chassis, and research about 5 other weapons to be effective(and awesome to drive). That takes about 20 mins. lvl 3 turrets take 4.

But now I guess turrets will get nerfed instead of tanks becoming more desirable. It's not my fault tanks suck. In fact, I was against the nerf from the start. no one ever wants to take a step back so I guess cheers to turrets , may they rest in pieces along side badlands, common sense, the smg3, and SGT. MIKE

    GG guys, GG

It's not. (or at least shouldn't be)
In fact, 9 mining is one of those fun little things you can do.
Need to kill a nuke heavy with defuse? 9 Mine :D
    It's fun sometimes.

    No offense to anyone :o

To defend against what? A huge explosion that is remote detonated? How can you possibly defend yourself against a explosion that goes off whenever the grenadier likes, I'd like to know, because as far as I know you can't defend yourself from a nuke flying your way same goes for 8 exploding mines.

    ...

    You missed my point.

It's easy to defend against with a couple of turrets. Everyone knows that turrets will kill a ninja before they able to do enough damage, let alone lay 9 mines.

9 mines are a hit or a miss. You either get it, or you stop it's progress. The key is killing the guy before he drops them. That is the easy part. If he manages to have spent over a minute planting mines then going "PRAISE ALLAH" on you then kiss your ass goodbye because you pretty much deserved it. Shit happens.

Didn't think I would have to explain that : /

    ---------------

    OR

plant a camera, watch minimap, wait for ninja to get close, then run him over.
Easy, unless the commander was the same kid who tried to force the square peg through the round hole as a child.

    Or

    --------------------

have a rifleman guard comm, wait for ninja, then let the bloodbath ensure.

    Or

    ------------------

plant camera, wait for ninja, hop out and gun him down

    or

    ------------------

watch for ninja, wait for him to drop 1, run over that activated mine and watch the gren go up in smoke over his own weapon.

    All are easy.

Just have a guy with a budget jeep on escort to clear the mines. Over and over again.

Definition of overpowered: more firepower than other weapons/classes. You can measure it by damage per second (like 1000 damage per 20 seconds of planting mines = 50/s, 9 mines do more I think)
Easy to defend against: obvious. So I think that every idiot knows that these 2 things aren't related.

    Overpowered isn't relative btw.

Level 3 turrets are piece of shit when you have medium tanks with HE. Or if you play as a team (3-4 decent AFVs). You can also make wall and throw nades/mortar turrets. Level 3 turret requires just 3 shots with HE.

Tanks are cheaper in 1.08. We won on cyclopean yesterday as BE with only medium tanks, HE, regen and diesel. I think dubee researched 1 more armor and 1 more engine but that's all.

But with less chaos on the battlefield it's easier to make those 2 turrets + camera. You just have more time for building this defense (fewer APC rushes). I think that most of ninjas that I saw lastly were BE because you plant their mines much faster. Even if commander/team notices you you still have some time to do damage.

So to sum up 9th mining is overpowered (doesn't mean that it needs to be changed) but you have enough time for building defences. If a team is totally losing they won't even have a chance of getting to CV. My only problem atm is squad hide + 9th mining. I also think that we'll see few ninjas in RC22.

You didn't think you have had to explain that for the 10th time in the same thread? Add up all the other posts in other threads saying it as well.
No this time I'm pretty sure you missed my point, 9th mine is overpowered, mines are not remote detonations and it should not be more powerful than the most powerful tank weapons. Forget the ninjaing, think of flag camping, blocking off a full area. Not just blocking off the area by mines, but also being able to remote detonate them in a huge explosion. Why does everything else have to be balanced into gameplay, like the nuke or the artillery, or a heavy tank.

But 9th mine can still be 3 times as powerful, can blow up when a tank comes near it, can block off whole areas, and also remote detonated. All given to a unit you can get for free every 10 seconds, compared to all the things it can destroy that all cost shitloads of money.
I say be gone with it. Mines are great, remote detonation like a c4 would be great, but an all in one deathpack, no thanks.

There is a reason why some games do not allow you to detonate more than one explosive package, there is also a reason why some games do not allow you to have the same kind of explosive but force you to pick one (timed, proximity, remote detonation) and there are also games that only allow you to have a single of something powerful, but in empires, you have it all in one, and yet you guys want to justify it by saying "but NF cant win on escort without it" or "yeh but its easy to defend against a ninja that uses it." What if we just gave the grenadier an explosion that would annihilate the whole freaking map when dropped next to the enemy cv, would you still claim that weapon is not overpowered just because well, you can easily defend yourself against a ninja. You're right on that point, but hey maybe that weapon could still be overpowered... Or even better: Could it possibly be so useful to ninja and end the game because its so overpowered?
