this is like blocking an expansion with a worker on starcraft, or trapping workers in a mineral line.

i think it should stay as well.

    This.

The debate is two phase. First, should they be destructable at all? Second, should they cause any form of damage if they are destroyed?

"Just" adding code to make melee destroy them addresses the second phase as if the first was already decided.

No, it's called fixing a gameplay bug.

The problem isn't that people block ref nodes, that's fine, walls, turrets, cameras, all that is fine because you can kill it.

Dropping an ammocrate locks down the refinery node and there's nothing you can do, on either team.

In starcraft if someone blocks an expansion with a worker or traps your workers they're doing it with a KILLABLE UNIT, and if it's cloaked you can STILL GET A DETECTOR AND KILL IT.

Scenario A: Team_A kills and captures Team_B's middle refinery on Cyclopean. Team_B places ammawbawx. Team_A rages, and moves on.
    Refinery never gets built.

Scenario B: Team_A kills and captures Team_B's middle refinery on Cyclopean. Team_B places ammawbawx. Team_A rages, and waits for it to disappear. Team_B then comes with tanks and kills Team_A; Team_A gained no resources.

    Unfair advantages, Prolonging of Games.

if it was all damage could kill an ammo box then people would have to take care to place them somewhere safe, which makes a lot of sense. although the boxes would have to be tough enough to survive a couple nades.

If you place a box somewhere safe, your team will never see it.

    GUYS, FUCKING READ.

    THIS IS FOR MELEE_ONLY. MELEEEEEE_ONNNNLYYYYYYY.

It takes 2 hits with melee to kill an ammo box. If a suicide scout can get past and deal two melee hits, MAYBE YOU DESERVE TO LOSE IT.

The devs should move this thread to "Implemented" before PreDominance's head explodes. :headshot:

No. I'm just SICK and TIRED of people taking a (GOOD_) IDEA, and adding their own (STUPID/IDIOTIC/UNNECESSARY_) RENDITIONS to said IDEA, thus causing a derail, my head to explode, and for implementation to be delayed.

But PreDominance, the discussion for me is less about "should ammo boxes be destroyable" and more about the specifics, things you are calling derails.

In order of personal preference, I would say:
    1) Leave them be, because dropping a box to screw the enemy over for a set amount of time is enjoyable to me.
    2) Make them explodable but only hurt (like mines) the owner of the box
    3) Make them explodable and hurt everyone/everything within range.
    4) Make them destroyable (including at range) but not explode.
    5) Make them melee-able only.

So basically, you enjoy broken gameplay mechanics.
This is like say, valve discovers that there's a way for a medic to uber himself 6x as long if he doesn't uber a target, so they just sit on cap points for 45 seconds blocking it, but gabe likes it so we're keeping it as a feature.

    Fuck that man.
    Fuck. That.

    Game 019321.

You want me to give you an example? No, I can't. I can easily recount times where I've lost a game that might NOT have been lost HAD I been able to place the 2x ref node.
