Yeah I'm still kinda sad about gas being moved, it made chemistry rush real nice. On the bright side you made regen nice again, so starting off with bio tree is a good idea again.
Ugh, we're getting off topic, but oh well. It's funny, but the time that you used to need to go from start to turbine+absorbent is the same as the current time required for turbine+budget from start. Considering that you're already in mechanical and imp std cannon+2stdmls is respectable, I'm surprised we aren't seeing more cheap medium rushes.
He cannon is rather nice you know. But yeah, I totally forgot about budget armor. Honestly this just further proves the point of why a linear system would be suck. You couldn't have stuff like this.
The nature of the research tree means there are numerous permutations of strategies. In general, they all amount to get an armor, get an engine, get bigger tanks, arm bigger tanks, and be aware of what the enemy is researching. The big thing that the Trickster camp likes is that your choice of armor and engine affects your choice of weapons among other things. They become interdependent.
Oh yes, I like numerous permutations of strategies. Indeed, the idea is very good! I have to think about it...
while theres thousands of different tank layouts (and there really are thousands if you go down the plate road), theres oh so many useable ones. and by oh so many i mean 2-3 layouts. which one is dependent on map and version.
If you had a really competent team that could do things exactly when you ask you could have a few more layouts that are usable, but that never happens. Some players are good enough in a tank to make some builds usable too. Generally though I'm sad to say flasche is right and you really are only going to win if you get one of those very few layouts. Now I'm depressed that people don't want to try new things anymore.
oh man, i could write books about how and why global tank-item research was a bad gameplay decision to begin with. actually, it has very little to do with the (in)competence of your team.
Biology, rush medium tank, strategy 3. There's few more. I can play properly with any build, it's just the game would be much harder if enemy got the better shit. I've failed to carry like 500 games because of the retarded research.
Chemistry -> Absorbant -> Det compounts -> UGL -> coolant enginge -> HE -> mediums -> bio ML (or UML) -> compo -> heavies
I've never seen anyone successful with coolant on a map like duststorm or mvalley. The problem isn't heat management, its the fact everyone will out run you so you can't kill them and you can't run off for repairs when you need to. And I know coolant was for siege stuff, it was usually a case where it was easy to grab gas on the way to meds or something.
I discovered ive been using bio engine more than coolant because you overheat by simply driving and it pisses me off.
