Real strategy?Whats that? I think 90% of the players prefer targets over meaningless move orders.(Or defend, fortify stronghold, mine, etc.) If you had brainless little soldier men who couldnt walk without your order, these commands would be "strategic" All this would do is change "attack these people" into "attack this general direction, now your all on your own kthxbai"
Knowing exactly where enemies are because the commander can do a 2 click+drag + 1 key combination, is utter bullshit. It breaks gameplay. If you are going to argue to keep it, bring real points to the table. Otherwise, stop making yourself look like an idiot.
Targeting should be given to scouts the same way that Skulks in NS could parasite people. Parasiting people, for those who don't know, did about 5 damage but would make an enemy visible to your allies. Same idea, except scouts would use some sort of "Ray" gun or just binoculars or something to mark the enemy with an isotope that would give a range to the troops. Also, troops that were parasited would have a HUD indication that they were giving away their position.
If the other com gives targets and yours don't, its time to f s space. I remember this time I was like " TARGETS COM " !!! and he was like " USE YOUR DAMN EYES ". he was kicked shortly after.
There's the problem! It's a stupid gameplay element. Why does every commander have to spam targets? Because, since they can, they have to! If target spamming was removed, we could focus on real gameplay instead of this stupid box drawing.
Heres my argument for keeping it: A.Going solo is even less effective than before.(Increases teamwork) B.Your chances of dieing increase dramaticlly, which will encourage all players to stick with the engis in their squads for revives.(Increases teamwork) Id be open to an alternative way of giveing targets, granted its simple and improves gameplay. "Otherwise, stop making yourself look like an idiot" That kinda hurt my feelings
Ok, lets say we remove wallhacks. How do the com give targets now? Attack in that general direction? do you want us to kill the barracks or that tank next to the barracks?
Fun fact: when you have a unit selected you can right click on an enemy unit/building/whatever to give an attack order.
Make all comm orders secure this location. and put a marcker on screen and map. then if a viable enemy unit is within 40 ft of the marker It becomes red. So move and attack are the same order. And you know wheather or not theres an enemy near by. Players should use thier eyes.
again... Attack in that general direction? do you want us to kill the barracks or that tank next to the barracks? I honestly don't see any other way this could work
The players should be able to decide that them selves. Besides, no one mindlessly follows those orders.
my opinon: remove all of the commanders wallhack abilities. the commander should get more different orders such as, attack location, guard location, carefull in that location, enemy activity, destroy buildings and so on ... this orders can be issued with and without selected units. with selected units the commander will issue that orders to the indiviual players. without it will be marked on the minimap (and in 3D) for everyone. to remove the capability of being able to klick every building directly, so u have a "wallhack" again, id suggest having it so that there is a minimum range between issued orders (~lvl3 mg-turret range?)
