Which Unofficial maps should be made official in next release?

    Yes I know, but the thing I wanted to point out that every time a new map loads on a server, a few people leave. If you remove offical maps from the database, then a lot more people will leave. Just keep and add. It's anyway not the people who chooses what maps to play, but the server admins (which most of them are veterans, so they know what maps are good and bad).

    not glycencity! its one of my favourite maps.

    district ... without gay lvl3 turret farms it would be a fun map.


    midbridge is good, but needs some improvements/fixes in my opinion. (i.e. there should be small entrances to the middle area, allowing infantry to sneak in when heavies control the battlefield; building placement should be improved, especially at the refs)

    edit: and yes, remove money!

    It wasn't included in the standard map rotation but a lot of people know money type maps from rts games I guess.. lol I wonder why canyon_cdr never got added to popular servers..

    Cyber-kun made one along time ago and I've been bugging him to bring it back so keep and eye open for that.

    I really think map rotation should be left to the server owners, with as many working maps as possible added to the official list. The people who run Empires servers are smart and can figure out which maps/rotation work the best.

    Agree with District. It's the map with the worst gameplay ever seen. It either ends a few minutes after it starts becauses teams are stacked very bad or it takes hours of nadespam, smokewhoring, reviving and lvl3 turretspam... :(

    District is fun without turrets at like the 5v5-10v10 level but just turns into spam fest after that.

    didnt solokiller say somewhere that turrets on district will be restricted in the next version?
    this would improve the map alot.

    edit: btw, is there a changelog or something for 2.2 to see which maps are changed?

    I like stalement maps for one particular reason: always action. If you want to get somewhere, you HAVE to push back the other team in order to get there. frost sucks but imo not because it's one big chokepoint.

    I like slaughtered a lot, eventhough people usually fight in 2 places only: bridge and east pass. But what a chaos you'll find there. I like glycencity as well, but for some reason BE loses nearly all the time.

    I like duststorm, mvalley ... etc as well, i just need a 'chokepoint' map once in a while. If it wasn't for nadespamming and turrets i'd love district as well, as i like escort a lot (most of the time).

    I compiled a new version which disables turrets (and also ammoboxes because of that), you can find it in the gameplay forum.

    I can concur, but i'd say it's not or should not be the server adminsthat determine map rotation but (god forbid!) we actually listen to the Empires *gaming* community on this one because ultimately this just boils down to the average gamer's comment:

    And that can sometimes be enough to clear out the server.

    When i used to run a server (and may do so again for 2.2) i'd had a script that monitor what map got what amount for player for how long. And from that the map rotation was generated.

    And guess what: this fucker actually worked while maps like emp_money *appear* to be derided by the, shall we say "vocal minority", the evidence was that what this while granted was a less popular map, wasn't the "server killer" like... braise yourself.. emp_badlands was (yes badlands was an OFFICIAL map).

    If i get my server running again for 2.2 i'll be re-running my request to host custom maps again and provide this kind of feedback to the community.

    Frost > Money because frost has a bunch of infantry passes in addition to the big "chokepoint" for vehicles

    nadespam is just a bad thing. I havn't ever met someone who said "nadespam is awesome, it's why i play empires".

    I think grenades shouldn't be available from ammo boxes and APC's, only armourys/barracks/spawns.

    This diminishes seismic use greatly, sure it fixes lone engineers killing a base, and that's a good thing, but it also means an engineer with his two standard grenades can't destroy the level three blocking the hallway around the corner.

    I agree with sandbag and blizzerd. It would help teamwork, fix nadespam and it would fix district (the turretless version of district).

    EDIT:
    can't we have a custom map day, where we play all custom maps on a full 32-42 people server. Afterwards we put in a vote or something. I think the devs could use such feedback. Or maybe even participate.

    Ammoboxes need the option to disable individual ammo giving, so you can make it give only smg ammo, or only grenades, etc. Too bad we won't get support for updated entities for a long while.

    It's a code-related issue, current priority is to have a stable OB version with bugs fixed.
