The Northern Faction might not be terrorists, but that is how they operate outside of typical head-on conflicts. Their operations take place on the borders of the little land they have reclaimed, and deep within Brenodi territory to disrupt supply lines and other stuff like that. Jekotians are allowed in the public domain of the Empire, since the Brenodi are trying to unite the 2 nations, and there are ways to fool sensors. They sneak around, kill a few officers/guards if needed if they're about to find something they have that they shouldn't, and all around typical stuff for a discreet force within an enemy nation.

Nuke heavies and artillery tanks = tactical sneak attacks?

I never said they ONLY do sneak attacks. Do you read only portions of posts before replying?

And yet somehow they manage to match and sometimes even outproduce the brenodi in all out conflict.

They can't do that without a comparable military.

That's not a small amount of territory. They own 2 major cities as well, ronan and glycen.

That's not the NF, that's the Jekotian Republic (Chekotian Empire is old name). That's the land they ultimately want, that's what their homeland once was. Most of it is Brenodi occupied and they have no control over it, and thats why they fight. They want their nation back.

Every empires match is with evenly matched sides.

Now either this is the general state of affairs in the conflict, and the two sides are evenly matched, or the game is completely detached from the story, in which case it makes absolutely no difference what sort of design I use for the buildings, you can't have it both ways.

Obviously we add in a 3rd group and adjust it to have asymmetrical teams and call it AvP.

In terms of numbers, that's because Empires is set in the early days of the conflict. The Brenodi never expected retaliation on this scale, so they have a smaller force than they later deploy farther down the storyline. This smaller force is about equal to what the NF fields. The NF got all their vehicle stuff from a massive cache that was hidden away in the north before Jekotia fell. If Empires was set once the Brenodi had time to properly occupy former Jekotia and stop the NF, every match would end in 5 minutes as the Brenodi saturation bombed the entire area. If airsupport wasn't available, it would be a steamroll with heavy armour and infantry.

I don't think that many people would go to any sort of frontal war with no hope of victory.

and empires is set at the end of the current written story, so what yo said is bullcrap. Or it isn't, if you are right sauce plx.

Yes, it's near the end of the current written story, because pretty much all of the story is pre-fall (the fall is the end of the Great War, when the Jekotian Republic fell). If there was anything past the CURRENT story, the game, then for anyone interested in story, the story would feel pointless. No matter the outcome of any game, they can be sure that how they might think the story ends is wrong because someone told them whats correct. It's like spoilers to a single player game, except the glory of multiplayer for the story inclined is that there is no end and it's so open to interpretation.

The story is written by lots of people on the internet, it is therefore almost certainly garbage, and absolutely certainly completely irrelevant to making a good, entertaining game for people to play.

Assuming empires becomes a popular game most of the people won't be able to know the story because they won't visit the forums, of those who do most won't care about the story and, like me, won't ever bother opening the story part of the forum, of those few who do care about the story, most will be idiots, because most people are idiots and this is especially true of people on the internet. Idiots wouldn't know a good or consistent story if it hit them in the face and just want big final fantasy swords and stupid hairstyles and to imagine themselves as being big burly men who get all the chicks, not that there's anything wrong with that but I don't think we need to cater to everyone's personal issuses driven fantasy.

So rather than care about a very small group of intelligent people who would like a consistent, well constructed and original story but don't think it is completely neccesary to get a good game (because they're intelligent people and therefore don't play FPS arcadey action multiplayer games because they want a gripping storyline) I think I shall instead go with making lots of cool things for people to look at and play with in the game, because this is a game, not a story book.

I go by the canon, the official core story written by Krenzo, and expanded by DonMegel and Angry. Not the fan fiction. And if you won't even open the story forum and read you have no right to bitch about story.

Considering some of the books that exist, 'book quality' isn't saying much.

And that doesn't do anything for the argument that story is irrelevant in a game like empires.

Its not, a story framework you can build upon is always good.

I think part of the problem you are having with the story is everyone is thinking of this as a big country attacking small country like the US invasion of Iraq. The storyline is more of the USSR invasion of Afghanistan. The USSR had the advantage in military hardware, personnel, and resources but the Afghan's fought them off with guerrilla tactics and the discrete(or not so discrete) help of key hardware and intelligence from the US. If you have no idea what I'm talking.

No, it is like the US vs Iraq, except in this case the USA hasn't sent nearly enough troops leaving them on level ground with the Iraqis. And that was true with the initial occupation. Not enough soldiers and hardware was sent, resulting in being initially overwhelmed. It is similar to this in Empires.
