Knighttemplar: this is my main qualm as well. All the knowledgeable players go for a few key skills, the others are third or fourth place choices at best. Granted, things aren't as imbalanced as earlier versions, like when speed upgrade drained your stamina and it was actually a BAD idea to get it. But the balanced could be even better. RPG(dizzy): I can see something like that working. Not that I like the idea either, but it could work. I think it's more important to balance the current skills then to drastically change things around to incorporate new variations of the skills, though. This feature can/could wait until AFTER balancing. Also also, isn't my use of onomatopoeia so awesome? I'm a veritable literary giant.
i like that some of the skills are specialised for specialist uses. for instance, regen is for when you are going alone where there won't be other engineers to help you, so five minutes fighting later you'll still be fighting fit. I take regen whenever I'm defending a flank as grenadier or rifleman, or anything where I'm going to be on my own for a while; it's a much under used skill, not designed to give you a massive massive boost just as none of the others really do. health upgrade; that's one bullet extra you can take? accuracy is damn good at the moment, but other things like speed- it's all subtle.
That's the thing though, they could give you a massive boost, like some other skills do atm. I'm not talking about anything game breaking, but bringing the subtle skills in line (or at least near to) other valuable skills would expand gameplay options and make the 3rd and 4th skill choices less trivial.
I'd like the skill system to be expanded. With 4 skills, a lot more rank points to get, and a bug which shows more skill points gathered than you can have at most, it's a bit limited now.
Getting 100%(or 130% lol) hp after waiting 5 seconds is a bit over the top, yeah. I'd say regain 10% health (or just a flat 10 hp) every 2 seconds. It's a long time in combat to reach max hp, but not agonizingly slow.
That's a great idea Align, but I don't know who mentioned instant health after 5 seconds. Yours is just what I was thinking of, though I was thinking 2hp a second
What about if it depends on what your stance is? If you are running, then it is slowest. If you are standing its a bit faster, up to crouching and still, where it would go fastest.
I think extra skills would be spectacular, definitely bite on the rpg aspect...definitely could use a mortar upgrade for when the good armor starts rolling out that way when i'm a grens I 'd be usefull later in a game, or like a pin point attack" skill where the shots are aimed for weak spots on tanks/buildings...i hope that other scouts will be able to sense enemy scouts...Maybe a no recoil upgrade? Silence kill for all infantry not just scouts. The rpgs definitely need a target lock, should be coupled with trackings systems/homing missle. Maybe once past 40 points, so the 5th upgrade one could choose from other units upgrades...engi could get damage / dig in...but then everyone would choose hide.. but if enhanced senses could spot hiden scouts then...walla I agree with knight need more stamina could be 4 timesedrupled that is it is now.
the NF have bio augmentation, so perhaps something only possible through bio augmentation? the BE have nanotech, so maybe something like a vision upgrade (a la Shadowruns Enhanced Vision)
technically, I'm sure you could get enhanced sight capabilities through gene manipulation as well. :p
the Shadowrun style uses technology, i don't mean simply better vision. http://youtube.com/watch?v=e2CBVRdxvWE look at 00:58, when he presses the side of his head and you see a redder view, thats Enhanced Vision.
Make several lines of general skills researchable, things like +20% speed, and later maybe +30% speed? And add new things along the way too? This probably would be a bitch to implement, just wanted to put this up. It would be really handy towards infantry upgrading.
I tried Speed Upgrade yesterday and I noticed a difference, it seemed near useful, which is good. Does that increase get added to sprinting or do you sprint at 125%? I think that all movement should be increased by 25%, and maybe it already is. Also, I took stamina upgrade and hardly noticed a difference. The question is, should it last twice as long, recharge twice as fast (current) or a mix of both?
The speed upgrade boost is very nice. I don't think it needs much more of a boost- I'd go as high as 40%, but that's IT. and even then, that seems a bit extreme.
I'm not talking about multiple researches, just a one-time deal. KT says 125% speed boost "seemed near useful," and I'm saying that going much higher then that in one upgrade would be too much.
