I didn't want to add these with my previous suggestions in the Little Additions thread because they'll bring more discussion, but I'm afraid of forgetting them again and I'm impatient. Colours help you break down knowledge into meaningful groups What I would like out of skills Make General skills stronger Speed - Should be faster Stamina - Like, double it Ammo - Fine, but spawn with more ammo Accuracy - Just right Melee - Perfect, but maybe add damage to turrets? Health - Also good Regen - Needs major boost, like ~50% of Normal engineer healing? These could be really good options for players, to allow for more varied gameplay, but right now they're just not that useful. I'll get Melee sometimes when I'm Gren. It really is powerful in the right situation and Grens really don't have better options up close, but in a game this huge, it's justifiably unnecessary (though ultra fun) Also, I feel that the Gren and the Riflemen need more skills, at least one. I'm having difficulty thinking of new skills though, but I wanted to throw that out there. I think a killer vehicle skill would make benefit riflemen, Reduced recoil or baseball bat turrets etc For Grens Better control over guided rockets Better distance for Mortars A defusing progress bar would be really helpful too, and aid new players (I didn't figure out how to defuse till October) There you have it, Please add more ideas.
For the General Skills I agree with everything but the regen, it's supposed to be slow, and force you to find a place to hide out, so that it won't give an advantage when you are actually in combat like health upgrade does. The longer range mortar wouldn't really help the gren, just make aiming different. The mortar has a pretty great range as is. I would really like to see a damage upgrade for the gren. And yes, defuse progrees would be made of win. :D
How about a grenade targetting computer that tells you where your mortar shots will land? I guess that would make mortaring too easy though...
I agree with all the ideas for general skills, INCLUDING regenerate. The fact of the matter is regen is slow enough that you might as well call for an engineer or go for an armory. I NEVER get regen anymore, and even when i did get it (to solo snipe as a scout) it was only moderately useful. I don't like the rifleman upgrades proposed, but I DO agree they could use another skill. The grenadier doesn't really need any upgrades. The guided rockets need a boost ANYWAY, without a skill, cause boy o boy do I suck with them.
i love all the suggestions.. how about a quick reload skill for grens.. seems to be what they all complain about
what about a whole new system with points you can spend on different categories? Like the system in DeusX OK You can hit me now.. worst suggestion ever :D ONTOPIC: I actually would like to see the faster reaload skill for grens...
Homing missiles for the RPG anyone? That would actually make it useful. Im not talking ML-class guided missiles that will never ever EVER stop tracking you short of hitting a wall, but some guidance as in they will aim at the tank in general, but will lose their lock if they are dodged by the tank, or the tank moves behind cover.
ya.. research. Perhaps a skill might make the lock on times lower tho. Altho I would use the aiming skill for that instead of making a new skill.
for regen, make it faster but also make it so it doesnt kick in until about 45 seconds after you've taken damage.
That would make it SLOWER. And useless. 10 seconds is forever in combat, 45 is research-worthy length.
How about 5 seconds after taking damage regen would kick in at 50% the calc speed; sure its fast, but if you are constantly under fire regen would be useless... But if you manage to find a rabbit hole, you can heal up realativley quickly and get right back in there, without making the skill overpowered...
Regen is quite useful for me, it prevents riflemen from killing me when i'm falling back for repairs.
it would be nice if by default you automatically have a weak slow regen, like in Gears of War. its a rather nice system, where you can still die, and is quiet successful in most games.
