if you're near a barracks/apc then you're right mayama, it's faster to respawn. but what about when your five man squad is behind enemy lines or sneaking about a long way from a barracks. what about when the man with revive gets hit... gg we tried? I would love to see some more inventive squads, such as a squad entirely of scouts with hide and smgs, and this suggestion starts to make that possible.
more squad independence should be possible, and at the contrary of unit independence, squad independence should be promoted it is my belief that a well organized and supplied squad should be able to take out a heavy in almost any situation, not calculating the loss the squad could have to endure
I personally think this'll be a bad idea, it'll give an additional edge to teams who are working better together than others. And we already have enough complaints on skill stacks.
The whole point of this idea is to force people to stick together, right? How about be sadistic instead and simply make it so that you can only get an upgrade if you are in a squad and the upgrades are only active as long as you are near the squad leader. As for the squad leader, he needs at least 1 member from his squad in order to get his upgrades. Throw in a slightly increased leader radius and people will end up sticking with their squad leaders like flies on shit.
lone wolfs do have their uses (not nearly as often as ppl go lone wolfing but uses it has) so rewarding teamwork is better that punishing non-team work.
I would be wary of FORCING teamwork. As mentioned above, sometimes lone wolfs have their use (Scouts). So, forcing players to be in a squad and move as a squad or else you die is a foolish system. That being said, providing the means for squads that want to to stick together with benefits or dynamic squad spawning locations (BF2142 I believe has an item for the squad leader to drop that acts as an extra spawn point for their squad) is something I very much approve of. So, reinforce and promote squad gameplay, but don't enforce it.
Make sure you make the player getting revived a kind of flash in the screen or something, so he doesn't just respawn when there's 1 second left of the squad revive. "YOU ARE CURRENTLY BEING REVIVED by LordDz".
I'm not opposed to this per se, but I think this suggestion would drastically alter gameplay in ways none of us fully understand. It would be worth a try though.
Suddenly: corpses everywhere! I like the OP idea. It's not OP, meaning that you gotta go stand next to your fallen mate when he's been shot, and that's dangerous. He isn't instantly-revived, but E-built back to life, which is slower, and he is still near death when he comes back. Can be done with 2 or more scouts that try surviving behind enemy lines for longer periods, getting killed, then revive each other. Maybe the only way it can really be abusive too, since scouts are notorious for making people rage.
OVERPOWERED 10 hp? OH NO just use the nearest healthbox/apc/engi or health regen skill and your back in the action next to enemy main raping stuff with mortar from the hill. this shit only makes camping even more effective. 5 hmg whores for example in an infantry map. gg.
actually it's useless in a big fight. It really only allows a squad to pick them selves together when things have settled. In a fight the reviver and reviveee are incredibly vulnerable. the Revive engy is still a very powerfull asset.
