My suggestion to move arty from the heavy tank level to the med tank level was implemented. But this is rather ot
Why not make it 10 seconds then solo, and take off 3 seconds for each extra person? - 3 men = 1 second. We'd also have to make it so that enemy corpses could be cleared or degenerated out of an area.
As I suggested to vess when he mentioned this, let them be killed by using them as an enemy, this should also remove the ability to revive them with engineer skills. Ideally you could have an animation for this, like curb stomping them, or shooting them, or knifing them, something brutal, as this is a war between space nazi's and mutant soviets.
Yes, please! It would reduce the effect of idiot/newb squad leaders not knowing how to squad rev on maps like Escort or District. Its so frustrating to have to change from killing tanks (gren) to reving (engy) because your squad leader doesn't know how to spend 50+ points.
Well the main thing I like is that it makes squads more important, or at least it makes teamwork more important, because it allows you to stay alive as long as your group has not been totally destroyed. It also removes the huge penalty for dying, lets people fight more, and also allows you to hold a defensive position more easily as long as you can keep people away enough to allow revives to occur.
this was discussed before, but pretty negatively looked on: http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=4768 i 100% agree with this idea by the way, it's brilliant. It doesn't even step on the toes of revive, because it'd be useless in combat.
1 guy revives another guy 6 sec 2 guys revive another guy 4 sec 3 or more revive another guy 2 sec Just a example how i would think its fine. But well the problem is that the corpse is not on the same place for every player. Maybee force the "dead" player in a l4d like stance for like 15 sec and only after that time he becomes a ragdoll and cant be revived?
The dragging of ragdolls was a good idea, but since the ragdolls are updated client-side, this would cause a few sync errors so it'd be best to stay with Vess' initial idea. Which I agree, is pretty cool. Also wow, Devs do pay attention to the suggestion forum? I thought it was a myth...
why would you want to reduce the times? i see this as: 2 squads battle it out on a random battleground, a be riflemen with some luck is able to kill 2 engineers from the enemy squad suddenly, a damaged light tank drives in and starts shooting its cannon at the be squad, he is able to kill 2 engineers with build upgrade, the riflemen retreats to his remaining squad that fortified it selves behind a building the grenadier from the be squad is able to kill the light tank, and then the rifleman comes out again, with the support of his remaining squadmates in a little rush, they quickly overtake the enemy remaining forces after setting up a perimeter, the squad goes over there casualties, and provide first aid to the 2 engineers, making them still living to tell about it, not only out of compassion for there comrades, but because they are vital to there mission then the squad moves up
Don't forget to mark the squadmate corpse on the HUD, plus give the dead squadmate a message that his team is coming to help. :D Not having him turn to a ragdoll would help too, just have him fall down and hold onto his weapon like a crutch or something...
We suggested that when vess first mentioned the idea, it's a good one too, having people drop to the floor would be helpful both for revive and for this.
no its not, silly a guy that had himself revived in first aid by a teammember has not only saved himself the time to wait for respawn, but also does not have to walk all the way back to the squad again in some rare cases a plain standard respawn would be most effective, i agree but that is why it would still be there
It costs 6 seconds to revive a squad member. It cost 7 seconds to respawn. If you revive more than one guy respawning is almost every time more efficient cause for example from the BE start base to the middle of the map on emp_canyon its about 5 seconds.
