I was arguing with someone the other day about this, and I wondering what you guys thought about giving the Scout a shotgun.
I think the Scout Shotgun would be a decent addition. My idea is this: Move the SMG 2 to Engineer and remove the SMG 1 from Engineer.
I think the Scout Shotgun is a fucking ridiculous idea and you guys just dont want to face the truth and go on believing that just randomly giving the Scout a new weapon will make everything better.
It won't, but partially the idea is to just get rid of the rifle completely... and for that, they need a substitute.
I've no interest in a shotgun. There are other games where a shotgun is more fitting and more fun. I casted my vote as no - duly.
Sure, why don't we get rid of the Czar and then blindlessly believe in Stalin because anything is better than the Czar right?
This really promotes the scout's role as an infiltrator, to take advantage of his hide ability and quickly take down enemies. I has full support.
I have no idea how you'd would balance this considering the shotty pistol, a secondary weapon, can already do enough damage to one-shot someone in close quarters. would the scout shotgun be an even more powerful variant of this, being that it is a primary weapon? I'll add that I'm pretty disappointed that they're gonna get rid of the scout rifle, even though it's nerfed to shit. A compromise between 2.1 and 2.2 scout rifles should be reached, instead of just abandoning the whole weapon entirely.
more ammo in a clip could make a justified primary weapon, also more accuracy because of longer barrel so a more focused damage is possible, even larger shells is possible
I love the scout rifle. It's 100% accurate, always kills in 4 shots, and is a nuisance for the other team. The scout with shotgun is...horrible to imagine.
You missed my point. The shotty pistol is already as powerful as a primary; making a weapon similar to the shotty pistol but more powerful in any way would be blatantly overpowered.
I can't honestly see why scouts were changed anyway in the first place, they are supposed to be an assisting class disabling turrets and spotting for the rest of the squad, sniping the odd person dead. I already fine it terrifying to see a good scout killing people with melee upgrade while remaining hidden. Plus we already have too many people being a fail scout, no need to give them shotguns because they cant do their job properly.
That's the reason we give them one. Why have a class if it's not effective? (that's why we fix it, not remove it )
I didn't really think the Shotgun would be any good before, but in a post a few weeks ago I outlined what I thought the scout needed, and the shotty filled about 2/3 of that criteria.
