i reiterate the argument i made earlier-- a tank team using team work is going to suck MORE then a tank team just running around willy-nilly. If you use teamwork to allow your gunner to shoot stuff while you hold the turret still, you're sacrificing a hundred-some res weapon for the dinky little thing everyone gets for free. See above for full argument.
i've dominated with team work... i hold it still.. the gren shoots 1 round and hits.. then while he reloads i shoot 3 rounds while turning to the fresh armor side.. rinse the blood of your tank and repeat
Well, we're mostly talking about riflemen, engineers, and scouts here. Gren is probably the only class that can even remotely hit something in a tank's 2nd seat. Grenadier only needs to get a one-second clear shot to fire off his mowtar or rocket. An engineer/rifleman/scout requires that he can actually hold his fire on the target for a good 1-2 seconds and hit them enough to kill them. Let's drop the realism argument for a second: Wouldn't it be better to make the second seat much more useable in gameplay-terms for now instead of relegating it to a 'wait for passenger weapons' position? About the teamwork issue, why not simplify this overly complex problem and make it so that the tank driver and gunner can do their jobs and not have to deal with any more distractions from what is already going on in the game? Teamwork can still be used to enhance this. And wouldn't it be better for someone to say: "There's a gren up on the roof over there, back up so I can shoot him" instead of: "There's a gren up on the roof over there, can you back up and stop aiming at that tank that's trying to kill you for a second so i'm able to aim at him?"
Expecting two people to communicate perfectly in a public game to make decent use of a feature is stupid, and also clutters the teams voicechat.
I also don't see why this is such an angry debate, surely if being in position 2 can be linked to the turret, it can also be linked to the tank body with about 10 minutes of tweaking, or even (better imo) not tied to anything.
*bump to hopefully get this noticed so it can have that 10 minute tweak so that everyone can be happy*
Ok, I made it so the passenger doesn't rotate with the turret, but that's only because Quake Wars does it like that. I can't have them showing us up or have newbies say "but Quake Wars does it like that!"
