So here is my suggested list of maps... 2islands Atomic AlpineRush Arid Blast CDR_Cannyon < rain on a sunny day bitches! Dust Havoc Lake Money_HH6 NF_Escort <- I duno what you guys are talking about gliched on here... played it plenty of times in the past with no issue. IF there is a glitch fix it then this map is awesome. Octogons Rage Research Smokies Stale Mate SnowBound <- my version has mostly everything fixed except NF tunnel. Missing gfx. (fucking 10 image max shit. I was just putting a 128 by 128 jpg of each map.)
Retexture the NF tunnel on snowbound? Also again, thowing this out there but is glycenpass on eithe rof the servers? Haven't seen it in ages and can't be arsed to check your maplists. I like it.
Fuck Harryhoot's money, fuck Octagons, and don't pick maps that are already in rotation (Rage? Really? We play that one every day or two at least.)
What was the one with all the skyskrapers and walkways and gondelas and zip lines and flags and elevators and it went on forever.
We could try harryhoot's money for memorial reasons. Maybe fuck rage, yeah. As for octagon, well, if it will be a pug then I think we can try to play a proper round on that. Also we should play badlands.
the fuck is wrong with octagons. there is no map like it and it is genuinely interesting in exactly the same gimmicky way that rainbow road is. Which is to say predictable but certainly no worse than money or slaughtered.
Yea, what a a glorious gimmick in a single path to the elevated terrain which when lost cannot be reclaimed. Also jeeps being able to just ram the cv off in like 3 minutes. No cover and nothing interesting beside the lifts. Its moors with a dick in the middle.
... #1, same EXACT thing could be said about rainbow road as far as griefing / falling off. #2, the high ground can be taken, but it's not all that important to do so with haste. #3, your complaints conflict. If the enemy focuses too heavily on high ground and you are too dumb *not* to rush their comm (herp derp "Also jeeps being able to just ram the cv off in like 3 minutes") and take advantage of their preoccupation instead of banging your head against a wall, you deserve your loss. You are complaining about two completely separate objectives that are both important and you can put pressure on one or the other as is advantageous to you. Yea, sure, it's a simple map. You want it more complex? Take a stab. Now try to tell me Money isn't arty/nuke clusterfuck, Slaughtered isn't an arty clusterfuck, blimps can't be "rushed" and have the missle silo taken over in "3 minutes", and you aren't suggesting we don't have extremely predictable maps with similar complaints. Try reading please. I never said it was glorious, I just don't see how it's particularly worth a callout for shit. This was a call for old maps, I think I'd like to play it every so often same as other maps listed here.
Last time I checked, rainbowroad and money were also shit maps, so I can't see why you're bringing them up. Also, good luck trying to push around the sides when the enemy team has level 3 turrets/two half decent grens raining hellfire down/two decent riflemen raining smaller, faster hellfire down from up top.
No no, dont you pull this pretentious shit on me here. You dont get to call me out on some fallacious logic while you started the argument with basically saying "People like voting shit maps, so lets add even more shit". Also there is no conflict. Jeep rushes come through the middle. Youre also suggesting i am somehow defending money and slaugh which is just as hilarious as it is wrong. ``` If you want to occasionally play some less serious maps then nothing is stoping you from setting a local. They work decently enough for up to 10 people that are not on the other side of the world.
.... money is on the normal rotation and we play it all the time. Rainbow road is similar and yet apparently not worth your scorn. And I'm pretty sure I can find quite a few people interested in playing it, I'm expressing an interest in octagon. Both examples bring up questions as to why octagon can't be on the same level of the others in this thread for old map rotation. Let me know if I can hold your hand through any other rational thought process.
My analogy to rainbow was in regards to the griefability of having the ability for the comm to "fall off" the map (which I described previously). Also, as I recall, there was a very long period where rainbow was a hit. Despite those that got tired of it, many continued to enjoy it for a while, it has a nostalgic funhouse feel that I personally found enjoyable (although nauseating when played frequently). Also I'm not sure anymore but as I recall there were no reports of actual seizures experienced on Rainbow Road . Destroyer you've only so far commented at all on "attack paths". You do realize this discussion involves evaluating maps with more than one metric right? Attack paths don't matter on money, if the teams are at all balanced and decent, game lasts until arty and one team will cluserfuck the other's base with it, without ever using attack paths. So who cares how many of them there are, the fuck are you on about?
Two attack paths allow for two frontlines, require people to shift about, work around the tug-of-war issue? There's a reason we don't like single-lane maps. Or perhaps the real problem is we are so afraid of getting arty tanks that we never even consider using them. Also, if we had responsible admins (not saying I'm one) the griefability wouldn't be a factor.
