    if the devs had engine access, imagine ALL problems being fixed by mootant within 6 months

    it would save work to make new stuff, AND give more possibilities

    for example, with projectiles for tanks we are bound to the mortar approach, and the missile approach

    what if we wanted a cannon that splits in smaller rounds after a few meters of flight? a true shotgun cannon? a cannon that has some heat seeking? a cannon round that fires mg rounds at people as it travels? a different AI for the missiles for different missile types? (for example, bio homing not targeting tanks, but looking for the best point to explode to hit the most tank sides)

    Ignore Blizzerd. All of that shit is possible at the moment anyway, so I don't know what crack he's smoking.

    No, the stuff we can't touch are things like entity limits, the max size of a map in hammer, some rendering stuff.

    Well you can get that reduced alot as long as your willing to start making people buy the game and giving part of the income to Valve.

    Thats most likely won't happen though... Empires is free and shall remain so for the foreseeable future.

    but really... this game is worth paying for, don't you think? Much more so then alot of other steam games that are shit. Thank god for demos/pirated downloads.

    Empires would need to be totally rebuilt to go commercial, and realistically, it'd be a much different game to what we have now. Not necessarily a worse one, but a different one.

    Talk to Valve, ask them to finish the game for you, chuck a $10 price tag on Empires, make it a standalone with help from Valve, problem solved.

    I think a commercial Empires would be awesome. I'd buy it for 40 bucks.

    I'm sure it would need to be watered down to make it commercially viable. Selling Empires to a couple of hundred active players wouldn't cut mustard.

    60 EUR for Empires. That's slightly more than The Witcher's collector's edition.

    That's interesting thought. If anyone would do it it'd be done like NS2 - no publisher, small team, small scope at first.

    Please list how much you'd pay for commercial Empires and which features are absolutely required by you to buy it. (we'd have to focus on "core Empires" first and get it done properly, it's not viable to try to get whole current Empires scope at AAA quality)

      JEEP (50 res), APC (400 res), TANK (1500 res)
      no weapon customization.
      no engine overheating.
      limited ammunition.
      BE JEEP is 2 seater
      NF JEEP IS 4 seater but just as agile as the be jeep
      NF APC is only vehicle without turret seat
      Tanks have an HE cannon that does 150HP dmg
      they also have a std mg

      all classes have general and class specific unlocks.

      armory 75 res: resupplies infantry and tanks

      rax 200 res: spawns infantry
      radar 600 res: marks enemy armor on minimap, allows for research of tanks and level 2 turrets.
      refinery 100 res: extracts resources
    • Deployables
      camera, radar, ammunition box, mg/ml turret, walls

    Commander Features
    • global waypoints (numbered)
    • selection specific waypoints
    • vehicle restriction
    • building placement
      building placement in ForeVERâ„¢ is automatic at half build speed until building is damaged in which case the auto build will cease.
    • fog of war building
      enemy buildings have auras which prevent buildings being placed nearby them
    • cv absolute build field
      within a small radius around the cv anything may be placed regardless of nearby hostiles.

    20-25$ ( Assuming more basic empires than current)

    Commander
    -waypoints
    -move orders
    -walls small/large (Perhaps instead of walls commander could drop sandbag walls or tank barriers etc.)

    Structures (Self-Constructing with the speed of 1 engineer w/o RU.
    -Radar, VF, Armory, Repairpad, Barracks, Refinary (Same Functions)

    Research
    - Chassis Research (Extra research could be developed later.)

    Classes (Same functions as current empires)
    -Engineer
    - Rifleman
    - Scout
    - Grenadier

    Vehicles (Vehicles are more asymmetrical same seats/functions etc. But aesthetically different)
    - Jeep
    - APC
    - Light Tank
    - Battle Tank


    If the game was more simple it should be of higher polish however. Better hit detection, better maps, hopefully newer content developed down the road. (Com powers, Research etc)

    Also everything FN said except for vehicle seats.
