lets just face it... gauntlet was a better map... its ugly, crappy made, weird game-play, no logic or reason what so ever in the whole map (a bridge over a lake where both sides lead to nothing that could require a bridge to be built in the first place im going to make an identical thread in the public section to see how the community feels
imo we remove slaughtered and replace it with badlands. "if you shoot the cactus a nuke will drop and destroy the map!"
badlands was my favorite map every you could win it 90% of the time by rushing the enemies main and they were like OMFG MIDDLE HAS 2 REFS QUICK LETS GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!! and exactly .37 commanders actually knew how to get a vf in mid but slaughtered is ok if only for the first 10 min in sbend
just add some speakers that come out of the ground and add a face of trickster in the sun. = setting finally makes sense or change the setting to dark side of the moon and give NF a blimb as first spawnpoint
crossroads is brilliant around 10v10 it all comes down to good squad teamplay focusing fire exetra blargrag and comm can get into serious micro like pointing out tanks to grens/exetera. 20v20 its just a clusterfuck though. 1/4 of each team as gren its 80 mines and it just turns into a giant spam fest.
someone should make a bridge only map with like maybe some infantry shit and it would be like a bridge to nowhere fuck that movie was sick i'ma dl it
Clusterfucking sbend with 10 heavies on each side sucks. The map needs to be changed, but there's something about it which I like. It doesn't deserve to be binned I think.
It wouldn't make any tangible difference whether its labeled as official or not, so why fuck with things?
Slaughtered is the only map in Empires where I had a 6 hour standoff in a 20v20, it was freaking epic as hell and took some crackpot tactics and an amazing comm to finally pull through. Ah, I remember ninja-raxing their secondary base (Home spawn) as a scout. Good times. This is before there was a ticket limit/sudden death sometime during 2.1 I think.
This is a good idea. Tbh i've always liked slaughtered, it looks good and is one of the best maps for new players to get the hang of the game. Slaughtered is great because most people playing will get to play infantry, defend, attack, rush, get tanks, have to put down a ninja rax and see how late-game plays out without the game ending too quickly. Sure that means nukes and overheating a lot, but that's how endgame is sometimes. Slaughtered is a great early map for newbies to pick up on, without it being too far removed from other games - i.e there aren't a whole lot of routes like duststorm, cyclopean etc. It's a sandbox, and it's pretty fun.
Can't really help that I prefer easy-on-the-eyes green instead of the unrelenting brown of Mvalley or pale yellow of Dust. Cyc looks great, though.
