Infinite ammo FAIL

    Wow, no. It's a tank, it kills people.

    A good gren is already a pain in the ass if you're in a tank with the wrong weapons.

    in a surprise situation i really doubt that a tank stands a chance against a single well equipped infantrist (=reallife)

    Yeah you should totally be able to beat any player because you spent 2000 resources you probably did nothing to gain on the red armor quad damage haste pickups.

    Exactly, but that's the situation already. Make gren stronger and it's going to be a class that's hard to defeat even if you've set the tank up for infantry work. You're going to end up with all the oldfags as gren making mincemeat of newfags in tanks. How many of those new players are going to stick around?

    Real life is hardly relevant, in real life single people do not run around with a TOW missile launcher on their shoulder and multiple spare rounds in their backpack. Your single well equipped infantrist would have to be two or three people in a fire team who'd had time to set up.

    Did you ever think about it from the grenadiers point of view.
    Ever think maybe he doesn't enjoy getting his ass handed to him by some retard who can point and click, while the gren slaves away doing piss all damage to the vehicle, and just when he gets it into the red his tiny victory is snatched away by the tank driving around a corner and taking repairs.

    Probably any of them who are willing to change to rifleman and shoot the grenadier.

    Yes it makes tanks less important, but currently tanks are more or less all that matter in the game, but they really don't need to be. The objective of the game from a design point of view is that the team which performs better should win the game. That doesn't mean the team has to be entirely tank based.

    Tanks would be useful either way, because they beat most infantry and are still tougher than an individual grenadier, so a player in a tank is better than a player not in a tank, especially if you don't have many tanks because it adds versatility to your force, the tank resists bullets while your infantry resist rockets, use both together to beat a force composed solely of one or the other.

    A balance of classes is what you want in a game, at the moment the way to win in empires is simply to buy the biggest tank and drive it at the enemy, and until you make infantry able to fight tanks, that's still going to be what happens, and you are still going to lose all the possible variety of fighting in a mixed group against another mixed group.

    no i'm actually being serious give the nuke trooper like one super nuke launcher but you can only have one per team and every time he diesi you lose 100 tickets and 10k res and he can't sprint and it takes him 10 seconds to reload his nuke launcher and you can only have one per team. it would actually be interesting to see how this would influence empires gameplay.

    Life's a bitch ain't it. By the same token you could say that it's annoying for the person who's engaged in an epic tank battle to lose because there's a gren hiding in the trees.


    Tanks are a bit of a center piece of the game at the moment, but I think that's as much because people like driving tanks as any balance issue.

    That's where your infinite ammo comes in, use your tank and rifleman escort to level the treeline while the engineers with you keep your tank alive.

    And you don't suppose that might be because tanks are the strongest, fastest, toughest, generally best and only worthwhile units in the game?

    Actually scripters could quite easily add basically infinite ammo to infantry.

    only like 999 ammunition, 500 if you dont want to break the HUD

    devided by the clips =/ infinite

    They should be able to add it up to the maximum ammo value handled by the code, which would be however much you can fit in a certain number of bits, probably somewhere in the thousands. 8 bits gives you 255 max, 16 bits gives you 65,535 max.

    I'm fairly sure you'd be hard pressed to fire 65 thousand bullets in one life.
