Always treat your commanders like shit, its teaching him how to manage stress and makes them less inclined to be shit. Sometimes I just wake up at night hearing the echo screaming in my head. "U wot m8?"
@hexi , your fifth one just be a little bit changed, when fighting a gren you want to bait him into firing but keep your eyes on him so you can see what direction he's shooting for, then just sprint out of the way and towards him
correct, but you should also be watching around yourself (mostly after he fired) so you dont get over run by APC or shot from back or etc.. (happens SO OFTEN in these situations) ... Big mistake fully focusing on one enemy. (but, right you probably didnt meant it so literally) Learn how players react/move and then use this to your advantage. To be honest most empires players move/react/do almost the same way (no offense ) And also, always do/move in a way that nobody would expect you to.
If I'm reloading the mortar, and I see someone in my peripheral, I often reload looking away from him, to try to pretend as if I haven't seen him yet. It's amazing how many people fall for this trick, and crouch and open fire, whereupon I snap aim to their location and mortar them.
To evaluate: Bind your squad attack target button thing to somehting like mouse4 or mouse5, in case you don't have such buttons pressing mousewheel or mwheelup/down can work too. Or something on the keyboard. Still, it should be easily accessible because in a combat environment there isn't much time to press a far away button - and since it gives you the "wallhack" advantage, it allows you to pinpoint important targets (Security/YouzY) or revive engineers (Nihia) to make sure they go down ASAP or are pinned and disallowed to wreak much havoc.
That's cute. Also, tips: On comm maps, always choose repair upgrade as initial Engineer skill. If you don't have turret upgrade, don't drop turrets at frontline.
Also revive someone instead of repairing your own turret. Seriously I fucking saw that happen lots of times.
He is right and not right. It's very situation-dependent. There are many variables that go into this. That being said, I pick them about 60%-40% of times in favour of Revive. I think.
Okay. Challenge Accepted. Sadly, this is not situation-dependent at all. By initial skill, I mean the one you pick as you first spawn. I am not telling you to stick to it until the 2nd skill is unlocked.
I meant the same thing. And it is situation-dependent. What's the map I am playing? Where am I going? Who's commanding? How many people are going with me? How many of those people are engineers? How many of those people can hold their own and survive without nedding a revive? How many of those people are total retards? What can I expect of the enemy team in terms of numbers and damage output? Variables. Left and right. Therefore picking Revive or Repair Upgrade as the initial skill (first spawn, whatever) is heavily situation-dependent.
These are variables, they do affect the gameplay, but they don't fuck with your decision here, take some time to think about why. I am NOT saying there's absolutely zero circumstance under which revive is better than repair upgrade as initial skill. But the points are : (1)Repair upgrade is better in MUCH more scenarios than revive, as initial skill. (2)For the extremely rare scenarios in which revive is better than repair upgrade as initial skill, these scenarios are too specific that there's no way in hell you can predict their existence beforehand. So, you should always pick repair upgrade as initial skill, because you will have much more chance to do much more things than revive. No offense at all, but for all tips that I am giving, they are coming from my nearly 10k hours of life spent on Empires(90% of which are Engineer hours), and I actually contemplated before posting them.
I would say that there are factors that play into it. For example, if you have three engineers in an area in the start, then it's a very good idea to have two with repair and one with revive. If you're heading towards a part of a map that's unlikely to need or allow buildings, then it'd be better to have revive upgrade. Or say you're heading to dam on mvalley. I would find it best to have one revive and one repair engineer because there's not much use for repair upgrade until you get past the dam, but revive would be very useful. Now if you're the only engineer in an area, repair should be your first skill. However, that rarely happens, and above all instead of making generalizations about what skill to get, the best thing to do is to coordinate with the people around you.
