for the TTF2 players out here:

do you guys even know wtf grinding is? i really don't think you do.

to get the unlocks, you don't have to do ANYTHING. you just play the game as normal.

that means ZERO grind. you just have to wait while you play the game normally. it might take a while to get your unlocks, and i prefered the old system, but seriously. this is nothing like an MMORPG, this is just "you play normally, and sometimes you get new weapons".

wow, how hard is that?



what i don't like is when you get killed by people with a weapon you have yet to unlock. feels somehow unfair, like they're having fun and you're not. all the time that you are just waiting for a new unlock, you get this nagging feeling in the back of your head that you're not having as much fun as you could be.

 

FYI, you can still unlock the old stuff with milestones.

 

to be honest, because i played TF2 a lot, it was really fun when they introduced the new stuff and everyone goes one class. especially for the heavy update, that was awesome.

it was just different, and lols, which are the two funnest things for me now with TF2

I wouldn't mind the randomness of unlocks if it didn't hand out duplicates and items you already have. WTF am I gonna do with 3 Axetinguishers and 2 Flare Guns?!?

 

I can't wait to get into this game called TF2, it looks like i'll have fun playing.

Anyone who said this remove grind does not understand what grind is.
It is doing something time consuming to get something. Guess what?
If I want them bow I have to spend hours in this game to get it. That is grinding.

Anyone who says you should play normally, no shut up. That reasoning is the same for the achievements before and how we should play normally.

Even worse is it is all random. No fair there.

I think it's interesting that you think "playing the game normally" (like you've been doing for weeks pre-update) is grind.

 

If you want $50000 and you have to walk 100 miles, would you?
You normally walk anyways so why rush for that $500?
Just walk the half mile or so you do every day and you will get that money someday.

 

If you don't enjoy playing the game normally, why would you grind for achievements? More importantly, why would you be playing the game in the first place?

 

You may like something, but if you have to put in ten times the amount of time you normally play to get a weapon as it seems to be... that is grinding.

Same with the walking example. Need to walk 100 miles to get something awesome. I walk a mile a day. I could say I don't want to walk to far to get something, but then you say I walk anyways so what is the big deal? Just because I like walking doesn't mean I want to walk for hours upon days.

 

whats funny is all of the people complaining about grinding, but that's just what I hated about the achievement unlocks, a fucking merciless grind(at least for someone who fucking hates achievment exploiting)

Either you want the reward more than you want to play the game, or you enjoy the game and therefore don't care, you can't have both.

I'm not saying that I will never play TF2 or anything crazy.

I'm saying the method they picked for unlocks is one of the most stupid methods there is.

Sometimes I find that getting achievements can be fun. Other times I find it an unnecessary pain in the ass. Hitting someone with a burning arrow is fun. Hitting a thousand people with arrows isn't.
