So that means Source 2 will still be rocking the BSP trees while Id has long thrown that system away with their latest engine. Maybe people love playing indoor/arena style maps but imo Valve needs to move on a little.
Previous games in a series typically aren't ported to the updated engines that run the newer games in the series. Why are Valve's series immune to this?
I am not sure what you are asking. I don't exactly know what will be in it, nobody does but I think it they want it be like the unreal engine more in a sense its openly accessible and more user friendly. Both of them have been favorites amongst the modding communities but everyone likes unreal more because its easier to work with and just better. I don't personally have a preference, I just like games alot so I ignore what they are running on. The workshop has been a gift to everyone who uses it, so I think their engine will revolve around the workshop more in terms of what can be added. The potential of players shaping and designing thier desired engine for whatever game they want to make would just be amazing for the creative communities. They release a base product and show people how to use it and what potential it offers then let everyone else do their thing.
Are you seriously this dense not to get that McGyver was joking, that how Valve shifted from making quality games into just rehashing shit and distribution?
One of these days we will have a topic that doesn't get gutted to pieces from off subject discussion. Get gud
Isn't vertical integration a form of hierarchical model in corporations? And isn't valve technically horizontal integration? edit: no one correct me, I just remembered what vertical integration was. Ha! Reading all those wikipedia pages on Bolshevism (more like bullshitism hurr) has finally paid off. I was thinking about something else entirely.
Horizontal integration is being a monopoly. There are plenty of game developers and game distributors, Valve is not a monopoly/horizontally integrated. Vertical integration is in the other direction. You eliminate any and all middle men between the original product and its customers. Valve owns the game developers, the game engine, and the customer distribution system.
why post on this forum if trickster will say everything i'm thinking of and feel the same way about it? edit: oh yeah, because he led us in a shitty gameplay direction
That bitch knows what the fuck she's talking about. Anybody can think of a potentially cool concept (see suggestion sub forum), but executing it is another ball game. You have to care about the feel of the game as well add the cold gameplay design. I love her comment about the goal of a game that takes a minute to learn, but a lifetime to master. You can't just go for one or the other, you need both.
