Escort is broken

    Well, you can do a dustbowl like alternate route opening after a set period of time, allowing BE players to reach the flag more easily.

    Or we can just force communism to join BE everytime he plays the map, that should give NF a hard time.

    Please put the refinery under the map where it can't be shot.

    I don't want to have any more routes at this moment. We have to make more players notice the route on the right side of BE start flag.

    He's talking about the route to the right of the main NF building. Tanks can travel there, but it's very dangerous.

    I really don't think you can balance a map like escort so that either team has an even chance of winning. Either BE will have a good team who know how to use their tanks, or NF will have a good team who know how to cover the flag, if you get both it will favor one or the other.

    In either case you will have one team steamrollering the other.

    That's why games like unreal tournament and left4dead with asymmetrical gamemodes all have victories awarded for 'best time' and have each team play both sides, rather than solely one attack or defence.

    You can't truly balance Escort to have a 50/50 chance of winning, but you can come really close. TF2 maps that are not asymmetrical has like what, 45/55. Not a bad statistic for a map like that. This map though, right now it is about 90/10 with NF winning.

    if five scouts with speed upgrade and smg2 rush in 2.2, the first flag is no problem. escort isnt that hard.

    why not add scripted events that happen after a certain time, that make defending that certain flag impossible

    for example, a passage that caves in, or a hatch that unlocks both in favor of BE on the first flag, after a reasonable amount of time has passed (read as, as a time has passed that it would be deemed "unfun" to still be stuck there for both parties)

    The first flag cap is easy as long as you have one good HE tank driver and one good rifleman in that spot where it's incredibly hard to get shot on the battlements from BE side.

    That aside, shouldn't each of the flags be harder and harder to capture right up until the last flag? ultimately, the large problem about the first flag is that noobs waste vehicles. Why not give BE a higher res income until the first flag is captured?

    Why not totally scrap the map and add a totally new escort? Escort II?

    Anyone play TFC back in the day? Remember dustbowl? One team pushed and the other team defended. Very similar to the flag cap design of emp_escort.

    Do you remember HOW MUCH F*CKING BETTER DUSTBOWL WAS?

    It's actually easier to remake escort than it is to fix it.

    TF2 has a bit less difference than escort though, because one team has vehicles, and in TF2 defenders don't have that much of an advantage, because turrets are easy prey for snipers, demomen, spies, and uber rushes.

    BE has less tickets at start but gains tickets per flag captured, when BE gets 2nd to last flag they have a little more than they do now.

    fuckton of starting res (5-6 souped up heavies) but vehicle limit of only 3-4

    remove stupid research to help prevent failtanks

    add repair pad(s) to refit any fail tanks that do get made

    Are you high?
    It is very easy to fix Escort if you know what the hell you are doing.

    It's faster if you take into account having to optimize it to have per-area rendering, rather and the random rendering it has now.
