cant you guys use like "generic infantrymen" that yell "arrrg" in Russian accent when they die or something? i want to contribute
for whatever server you use, try to get admin for the duration of directing, and you NEED a microphone when directing scenes. when i was making the trailer, although it was directing many many more people at a time than you'll have to attempt (read: herding cats) it was just a chore without being able to kick dumbarses and yell obscenities over the mic.
For now we're just assembling the team, I also need to know from all the people that signed up, how much free time a week to you have to devote to this.
I can edit videos as well. Adobe CS4 (legit and free) I also have University level experience in such matters including editing, talent, and scriptwriting. Yeah, Im fucking awesome
no, we need you for script writing "how best to adjust your mic for your needs as commander" *outbound volume max, deep breaths, long controlled periods of screaming*
while i am a lazy bastard with no desire to help in any way this is great and it looks like it could get made, and made well, as long as it does not loose steam. keep up the good work and i cant wait until this is finished.
It's not going to be so much video editing as much as much as applying the sound files to the videos. I'm not going to make it some super flashy shit. Intro FadeIn Content FadeOut
How are you planning on doing scripts? One person per subject, or more of a someone write the first draft for a section and everyone reviews it? I'd hope the latter to make sure these stay consistent in style. Also, how in-depth do we plan on making the scripts? Include fades and what we show? Overlay text? Should we assume the video people will just do what we're imagining based on what we make the audio lines be? That being said, what style are we going for? I personally prefer the straight talking style. Kind of a gentle walkthrough. Then again, some people really like the gruff in-game stuff. I'd be willing to help on scripts. I just want to make sure we're organized in this project and if there's specific ways we're gonna do this I want to know up front. Nothing worse than a runaway project with no cohesive direction.
I choose camera man spellman, I believe the script writer writes it, then the others review it, then they give it to the video capturers and voicers, who go and get the content, who give it to BJ, who puts it together.
spellman: the straight forward would probably be the best. something like vessboy's (page 2) would sound good to me if i was looking through these after being utterly confused from my first game.
You can tell me which topics you prefer to do, and I'll assign them for you. In some categories there's a lot more sub-categories than in others, so it's not going to be 1 person per category. I'm looking for 5-6 ideal numbers of scripters, cause then it will be easy to divide the roles. Keep in mind that a large role you'll have will have to do with reviewing and editing. We want to make it as close to perfect as possible, with no extras and no missing bits on information. I'm still adding stuff to the tutorial content, recently added the F-menu, but I can't think of anything else. If you have any ideas then post. Anyway, I'll go through the last posts and sign you up. We will finish signups this Friday, May 29th. (2009 if anyone is wondering)
