Yeah, but that's what we should have moderators for. Keeping discussions on track. I would have done it, if it was in the art sub forum. (My powers only extend so far... )
Exactly, this isnt an acedemic place or a philosophilcal oratorium. There is nothing wrong with people willing to discuss something else. There are no (some might disagree) "X general" threads, in which OF would be discouraged, either
I didn't say people are wrong to discuss other topics. But they should at least open their own topic, if they wanted to do so.
Please open a new thread if you want to discuss this. This thread is for discussion about Empires on UE4 only.
Every single game thread I made, it has been shit posted to hell and derailed. This is nothing new, and the natural progression of things.
Then we'd end up with four times the topics for no reason. It would also take whole discussions out of context present in previous threads.
So, I've been playing around with UE4 more and more. I have a projectile system working in a test game I'm making (spending about 2-3 hrs a week on it), and I'm implementing weapons. I doubt it will become anything.
I posted this elsewhere, but the first time I ever get access to a new engine, I play around with creating Empires in it. It's kind of my test to see if it's possible. In Unity, I did a commander mode, in UDK I did vehicles (ran into the same problems Jephir did with Factions), in UE4 I'm playing around with shooting mechanics. I have no illusions about these things being just tests and never seeing anything come of it. I'm currently working on an Infinite Dungeon Building/Exploration game that I'm porting to UE4 (for better control over how it renders).
Yeah. I did this up in Unity: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1940586/2014-10-08_14-37-09.mp4 I'm porting over because I can't achieve what I want it to look like without paying $1500 for a Unity license.
I got mad at porting my game to UE4 so I'm playing around with my UE4 Empires thingy again. I fixed weapons, so now they work with projectiles. Gonna try to do a class/loadout thingy.
