SVN is starting to look like the only option Dropbox would be bad because it'd share the binaries. We could have models as seperate files to download that are in .gitignore
the versioning problem would stay. and sry i deleted the post while your edited yours with a reply to mine, i didnt think before i answered and i broke consistency again, damn ...
I converted all faction specific textures and put them on the git. They are overall 557MB and are being committed right now. I'm gonna set up materials for them tomorrow, so you should be able to use them then.
google drive "Drive starts you with 15 GB of free Google online storage, so you can keep photos, stories, designs, drawings, recordings, videos – anything."
Hey guys, quick lock on the Repo tomorrow as Firewarrior is going to be uploading a ton of stuff. It's very likely we will move to Google Code tomorrow as it's going to be most of the empires textures going up.
You could always use git submodules. Make an organisation account for the new Empires and host all the repos under there. You could split the assets up that way. Although this depends on the file size (don't know if they're bigger than 100mb). But even EPIC doesn't do this so I guess you've got to host it externally.
The commit yesterday failed anyway. Github for Windows didn't really give me any useful error messages as to why. (I really need to get a console git application.) Google drive might work well for the assets though.
Yeah the github app is very poor quality. You don't have to go pure command line either. TortoiseGit is a good app that makes things simple. Never needed to use anything else.
I was talking to some people who use mega, they would recommend it because of the great transfer speeds. I am not 100% sure on how much space you would get on a free account, I think its 50gigs.
