Did I misunderstand you? My apologies then, I genuinely don't know if you're saying the weapon is bad or good.
Every time I've been in-game this week, I've had a constant barrage of shit from people about the Shotty pistol being overpowered. Are you seriously telling me you think it's useless? Because honestly, it's my favourite weapon in the game, and I will use literally any excuse to buff it more. But honestly, Shotty pistol is in a really nice place now. I feel like you can really take people on at a decent range (2 rax lengths), but still have to really put the effort in to put it on your target at close range. Get them in the head and yeah, you can 1-hit-kill. You have 2 opportunities to pull that off. Mess that up and you're pretty much dead. I honestly can't believe Z!0000m suggested that the weapon was imbalanced by allowing melee during reload. That's absurd. Anyway, with regards to the thread, people have gone way offtopic and pretty much ruined the point of the thread. I've essentially gotten very little usable discussion from the thread, apart from the fact I should buff the accuracy increase from using ironsights, which I will. I'll also see about making them more useful in general.
Yeah, okay... Because instant kills from 100 to zero is "balanced". Point and click, that's all you need to do is point and click. The shot pistol is for people who like personal space, you trying to balance it as a main weapon is bullshit. It's a pistol, nothing more. Could have sworn this is empires, not trickpires.
Yap, you got the points. I've been trying to deliver those in the past years and meh. Pistol 1 can't instant kill, you have to put your crosshair precisely on enemy's body for multiple times to kill. Pistol 2 can instant kill with a very lucky headshot, the chance is like, literally 100 times lower than shotty because of the accuracy. Shotty? I only need to put my crosshair "near" an enemy to instant kill an enemy, and what's really fucked up about shotty is it can be used as an "area denial"(ladder, for example) weapon.
Whats absurd about it!? You were fucked if you shot twice without killing. Now you can still try to melee. How exactly is that not a buff?? And dont even get me into how it makes it even worse with working, yet still bs 3 meter range melee upg. I warned you about it Candles, I dont get it why didnt you listen to reason.
We have a lot of one shot weapons in Empires, and some of them are the reasons why this game is such a nightmare for new players. I feel lucky that I started playing when there's no good player at all.
I do like how the scout rifle doesn't suck now compared to before. Everyone says nothing changed for the weapon but I think the engine port changed how the weapon can hit people better now. The damage is shit, but now its viable weapon for picking off people who are retreating or turtling. I like this, its a good support weapon if you coordinate with a mg.
did it change? to me it felt the same like ever yesterday, maybe a bit more sway when not prone but that could only be me being rusted ...
I suppose, regarding melee upgrade, my only question would be how often people encounter or use melee upgrade. Personally, I only use it on district, escort, very rarely as scout or grenadier, and when barracks clearing. Give me some good answers to that and I'll think on it some more.
its gotten quite common seems - theres a melee kill per round at least, which is way more then its been when i last played regularily - but might be adaption phase aswell. but it really, really feels odd to get punched even though youd consider yourself out of melee range. really
Every single map that has any sort of building or terrain with cover. Any bunker or anything resembling a building has now become a deathtrap.
Anything without spawn protection is a death trap. Also Melee having longer range when sprinting is bullshit.
Melee is seriously op now. Instakills are bad no matter what, but you needed to get,well, into melee before(and get lucky). You can spam it without any penalties in empires and you dont even have any cooldown after killing someone. With added reach, you now generate a 3 meter radius zone of eternal fuck you. Who needs skill with weapons, its mashing buttons time.
That's why I suggested people with melee upgrade don't suffer from melee instant kills. So you counter it by spawning with melee upgrade and shooting them to death if they are in your rax.
I don't want to agree with that because I love shotguns, but I can't help it. Games like halo are notorious for powerful weapons like shotguns and sniper rifles, but you don't spawn with those weapons (unless it's a goofy mini game). You pick them up off the ground. In empires, all of your weapons are accessible at spawning. You can't have people running around with ohk death guns, so any ohk weapons are made such that you need a certain amount of twitch skill to use them. Then good players rape and people bitch.
Look at me I compare two games that are completely different and balance that way. If you want to compare empires with anything, compare it to TF2 or someshit, not halo.
