Default Armor Name Voting

INB4 we keep plain as name.

 

I will literally cry if that happens.

 

Seeing that most of my unfiltered brainstormed ideas made it into that poll, I feel honored by this unintended description of myself

I know it's too late, but I have more ideas! (taken right from this thread)


Simple Armor.

Generic Armor.

Basic Armor.



Stock pretty much means that something is the standard version of something or that it's an available good. I don't know where I got that term from, I guess old games since my knowledge of english is 90 % based of games.

 

There isn't even a point in changing the name, like who cares plain = plain it does nothing no frills it's intuitive it plainly does nothing except act as extra health points.

Except that's not true.

It's patently worse than every single armor.

For me, "stock," "generic," "ordinary," "plain," and similar words mean "middle of the road."

The default armor is not "middle of the road." It is not average. It is completely worse than every other armor in every measurable way except its weight.

 

So why not light armor, if it is the lightest armor.

 

I prefer Scrap for NF and Basic for BE

I feel like that might be even more confusing.

Although I WAS thinking about what happens when we fuck with how the default armor works. It has 40hp and 15 weight, but what if it had 60hp and 20 weight?

As I was thinking through the implications of such a change, I got stumped on LTs, which preform magnificently with 20 weight armors. The above change would be a huge buff to LTs.

But what if we had the current default armor called something like "scrap" only for nf and a tweaked default called "basic" for be?

I sorta like that because a 60hp "basic" armor actually IS in line with the other armors like absorbant or regen. It truly IS "stock," "average," "generic," etc. But since it's only for be, you're never putting it on LTs, which solves that problem as well.

I don't like reneging on my previous promise to name the default armor whatever wins this poll, but we may have to look at that in a few months or something.

 

no. the afv has 3 armor slots to the lt's 2 because the lt is harder to hit. you are balancing when it is already balanced. AGAIN

and plain armor is NOT just used for light tanks. you can put it on mediums, heavies, and arties too. you're welcome for the gameplay lesson

ikr Posts like that really scare me. I tend to not call people out when they derp out, but that's a weird one.

We can't do that with the current scripts. What a shame.

This is the part where you explain yourself.

 

Why don't we call it refurb armor. Makes sense if we are recycling tanks, we have tons of crap armor around that had already failed in battle to use for something.

 

With code support - add "team" support to armors.
Without code support -
1.remove plane armor.
2.Create a 2 team specific research entries to research_items.txt
3. Create new plane armor and requires that teams research.
4. Add emp_sv_researchitem (teams research) to server.cfg
5. ............
6. Profit

Oh no, you got it, but that's pretty fucking clunky. I'd rather avoid dummy research nodes, although I suppose that would function. I thought we were talking about the "team" parameter in each armor when I said it didn't work.

 

Just why would you want to add even more confusion to the game with more differences that are not actually.
