Only needs to be like 10 degrees. The point is, it also allows the pilot to look at the ground whilst flying.
Also most helicopters have their windows quite low, some of them have windows in the floor, because you need the visibility. If you're planning on putting the effort into making cockpits you need to make them work very well.
well I hope we'll have a choice between cockpit and outter view, because those things must be hard to fly.
I hope we get this piece of art! Anyway what happened to the other models of DonMegel? He posted 2 in dev blog a while ago that were really nice, how come we aren't using them? There's so many models we could use a still we haven't got any new tanks. So what's the point of modelling?
Most of them have unusable textures, are high poly and require animation. What might look like a 100% done model is probably closer to 40%.
Don't forget that he didn't sub-d model them, each part you see is a seperate object, which only complicates things further.
and that has a good reason because the SMD exporter cant handle groups so if you want to stick them together somehow you would have to attach them together as editable meshes taking some easier editability from you
air droppable cargo bay a jeep could fit inside and drive out tilt-able cockpit (for slower flight) 5 "possible" turret positions
Tropical Vendetta! Also, isn't this a bit too big for Empires? Problem is that the Source Engine can't handle objects inside of moving objects well. The jeep would be most likely to either suicide or fall out. The only way to circumvent this would be to have the land vehicle set itself as a member of the aircraft vehicle (just like infantry become a member of a tank). This way these problems could be circumvented.
Actually, a jeep can go in one of my dropships and get transported without getting destroyed or falling out. However, infantry just clips through.
thats just bullshit its not as easy as having a floating prop and putting another prop onto that, but still
Probably able to be worked around with portals and hiding a stationary "interior" prop somewhere under the map. No idea if the portals are good enough in the version of Source Empires is running though.
