It wasn't a fact and I didn't put it forward as one. If I wanted to verify it, then I would have, but I couldn't be bothered, so I put it as "hear" and a question mark so that people would understand it wasn't a fact.

I put a number on it, because I knew for a fact the age was as low as 14, but I had *heard* it was lower. I didn't assume it to be true at all, I put a ballpark figure down and let the facts slide, informing through my sentence structure that it was a ballpark figure.

Then again, you say you don't care whether I believe it or not. Or, it seems, whether it was put as hearsay or not. And yet still, your answer had no facts to back it up. You say you don't like rumour at all, but you didn't even look up the facts before stating your hearsay back. Therefore, I can safely label you hypocrite.

I wrote I "SUPPOSE" it is a rumour, I didn't state that it is one, if you gonna nitpick on every word, at least do it right. Calling me a hypocrit ... ffs.

 

The language shift from ae to e I'd agree with you on if it wasn't consistent, but it's clear that the shift happened to all words regardless of any other factors and I believe that consistency is more important than anything else, especially with the consideration of it being the natural evolution of language.

I'd also say that because pedo- is Latin and -philia is Greek, that the conjunction didn't mean anything and was then defined as meaning the same as paedophilia.

And yes, I believe they're referring to "cartoons about little girls".

Pisses me off that the first thing, not even a day after the shooting, is people pushing a political agenda amidst the aftermath of such a massacre.

I'd say you took my comment out of context and replaced its message with a strawman of your own design, but that's unnecessary as it's basically a given when dealing with you.

I only meant to try to open a different perspective. As a culture, we tend to think that we perceive ourselves as 'right' or 'correct'. It's important to understand that social norms (and therefore common morals) will change in the future just like they have changed from the past. What's 'right' today is considered barbaric tomorrow.

Everything is relative and we need to remember that before we talk about murdering pedophiles just because they don't conform to our current norms.

Thankfully, it's not the politicians (mostly), but interests groups. Our politicians are malicious or incompetent, but not stupid enough to risk political suicide by politicizing this.

I have to agree with this. To say just murder pedophiles...Is kind of like murder all gays, Jews, or blacks.....At one point that was the "current norms" Times change and so do the "norms" at one point it was common to have sex with kids. Also pushed by main stream religion (read the bible).
