    Use the same dvd-drive/whatever.

Should come out to $1,100. The processor is better, the graphics well, it's better to have a single better card than two weaker cards. You can always upgrade to another 5850 later.

The processor is faster DO NOT BULLSHIT ME ON THAT. The PII-955 is a little worse than the i7-920. The 965 is clocked higher, and uses less power; not to mention an unlocked multiplier for easy-OC'ing. The cooler is guaranteed to give you an OC-ability of about 600mhz (usually).

    The powersupply is 2x 6pin + 2x8pin. 80% Efficiency guaranteed.

I'm not much into cases, but I know the antec 900 is one of the best there is.

    Motherboard has 2x PCI-E 2.0 at x8+x8, which won't bottleneck the HD5850 one bit.

Memory is alright. It's just memory. No one cares about it. CL7 isn't bad though.

Think my hard-drive is the same as yours. Didn't look at yours.

    OS--Ditto.

Go with OEM or this if you have an old version of Windows you can install then upgrade.

4GBs of RAM? Wtf is that shit? 12GB is where it's at now.

And yes, I did bump up to 12GB :)

    140 tabs open in IE8, 3 instances of VS2008 and TF2...with no pagefile...and still 6 GB free...

Includes the 5770 in the price.
so home premium is 110 like it should be + 5770 + dirt2 = 280. Not a bad deal. Please read.

I don't know why I didn't include this before, but I'm buying in a few days, so I can't deal with supply bullshit.
5870 5850s have pretty much been sold out since they have been released.

Furthurmore, a pair of 5770s is a lot better than a single 5850.

i5 is better than the p2 965. Look at benchmarks on toms hardware. They classify it one tier lower.

    http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx
HEC is placed in tier 5, the worst. I don't want my powersupply blowing up on me.

    G.Skill RAM is faster

antec 900 is midtower. I prefer the HAF 932, and its full towerness. If I wanted a midtower I would just go with the 300

    So no, your build fails

    Any specific reason?
All companies use the same chip. They are lose enough to reference design that they all have about the same power. I've heard sapphire has bad customer service. And they don't come with DiRT2

Because of the card or brand?

The card itself is great. I'd rather wait a few weeks for a card that kicks ass than have two cards with no upgradeability.

Wait for Fermi to be released; even if it doesn't beat the ATI 5000 series, it'll make prices drop.

Fermi is possibly delayed for April

Not to mention because of TSMC's 40nm issues, nVidia won't be getting anything anytime soon for production. ATI is still having a hard time, hence the HD5870/5850 shortage.

Have you seen the die size of Fermi? Not to mention the transistors, etc. It isn't a cheap card to make. ATI has the ability to make money on performance prices, nVidia makes money on brand name and because their cards cost quite a bit to produce. There's no reason to buy an nVidia card currently, unless you want 3D vision or you only have an SLI mobo. PhysX is available on Win7 with an ATI card and nVidia card because you can use two graphics drivers.
Even if nVidia's 'Paper Dragon' does launch in January, it needs to be within a $80 dollar price range of ATI's card, otherwise the price/perf won't be necessary for ATI to drop prices.

Theres nothing wrong with power color. It just has a higher lemon rate than other cards.
    All cards has lemons.

However, I'm not waiting. 5770 is a card that has huge potential. Crossfired, it beats 5870.

I am pretty sure it will be within the top ranks of the 5xxx generation and Nvidia's DX 11 generation once they stop fucking around. When the new generation comes out, I'd still probably be able to max out most of the new games. Once it becomes obsolete, then we'll talk

What was the ATI card series you could quad-crossfire (with 4 cards at 1 gpu each)
