Sorry if I wasn't specific, I meant Valve's intro video. And yes, my Empires filesystem seems to be fine.
Hmm. And you've run the Source SDK Base 2007 once without the extra launch options? You can also give the entire, absolute, path instead of the relative path. Instead of Code: -game ..\empires\empires , find out your absolute path, which probably looks something like Code: -game "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\common\empires\empires" Note the quotation marks around the path. This is because there is a space in "Program Files".
If you use the installs from moddb then update threw steam you still get the intro video with the launcher. Not sure why you guys removed it. You should add it back to the 2013 version.
Funny thing is that until I was messing around with a fresh install I never seen the splash screen. It always just kind of froze when opening Empires then went right to the main menu.
Hm, I'll try that. But the SDK Base just shows the intro video (in a tiny-splash-screen kind of way, sort of like with the Half-Life demo) and then quits/crashes subtly. EDIT: I am a gigantic moron; I have my Steam install on a different hard drive entirely. The fix works, though! Thanks! EDIT 2: Running two computers ATM. Long story short, my Win7 computer doesn't work with the fix; I get a tiny window marked "Empires" for about a second and then the window closes/crashes. Yes I have the directory for the launch option right, yes I downloaded the fix, but it's no good.
If you transferred the files to another computer to the one with win7 then tou need to unblock the files.
i just talked wit someone that said that uninstalling empires, then searching registry for the empires keys and deletin them then reinstalling just works. you can try it at your own risk thouh (deleting not related keys would mess up the system)
speaking of empires registry entries.. I found these interesting entries: at key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LowRegistry\Audio\PolicyConfig\PropertyStore\292d980f_0 default: {0.0.0.00000000}.{6d3e51aa-07c6-41c4-a020-a38645f357a2}|\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\<YOUR USER NAME>\empires\hl2.exe%b{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} at key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\PerPassportSettings\<SOME NUMBERS>\HTTP\<MY EMAIL>\Http Last Safe Sender List\00000018 Exception: krenzo@empiresmod.com <-- GTFO of my registry krenzo! at key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Empires\empires\Settings shit ton of crap at key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\<YOUR USER NAME>\empires\empires\Settings same crap as above. at key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\empires\Settings same crap as above but has usertoken2 and usertoken3. <--- old empires install probably. also... those extra spaces in the words Settings... I have NO fucking clue why they are there. When I check the edit window they are NOT there.
Wait that exception email part, does that mean krenzo is always considered safe? That's kinda funny, and scary.
ya it does mean that. Its a silly part of outlook express old email exception process. You couldn't view images in that mail without accepting that sender as good.
Why would the goverment concern itself with a group of <10 lazy ass, stuck up intellectuals and their assorted cohorts?.
