With the influx of new and often inexperienced players, a lot of the vets are tired of the newbies not reading the manual/wiki. The problem is that the wiki is honorably out of date. Most of the pages reflect values from 2.2 or earlier  Added to this, a lot of the information is very subjective. This is coming to an end! I have been digging through the scrips, boiling them down and getting the wiki updated with some hard numbers. No more star system and no more guessing about whats what, its all there in hard numbers. Updated Vehicle Armor Appendix Vehicle Weapon Appendix Vehicle Engine Appendix Added an index for buildings Next: Vehicle Appendix (chassis) Upcoming: Updating the infantry weapon values for 2.24 and cleaning up the Classes and Skills area.
If someone gives me the original file for http://wiki.empiresmod.com/index.php?title=Image:Empires223TechTree.gif then I can update it to 2.24.
I only updated it from the 2.1 version, which is linked to in the edit summary. It's here: http://wiki.empiresmod.com/index.php?title=Image:Empires21TechTree.gif I think that's the earliest version of it.
Ive been keeping the clan wiki uptodate i didnt get cookie either metal smith anyway dont give up half way
IMO how the items in the tree are staggered vertically is bad. In most research trees, verticle position denotes usefulness/powerfulness. Which puts composite right after mediums. edit: For clarity, I mean research trees in other games.
Someone was so smart to revert to the outdated version of the tank weapons, i think. Could you check if thats really the outdated scripts so I can revert the revert?
Is there also a version available in a editable format (cdr, doc, odt, xcf, psd, ...) If not can you tell me the font used for it?
Yes, the update got reverted. I am digging up the infantry and chassis scripts this week, but they are a bit more spread out. In the meantime, I made some minor changes to most of the pages that are linked to on the main page. A lot of this was spot checking and adding place holder information, so some of it may be wrong.
I simply edited the image by hand in photoshop, just cutting and pasting for the most part. For the parts I had to type in, I used Tahoma, but I don't think it's actually the same font -- look closely at Advanced Personnel Deployment, it looks slightly different.
I have the stats for the infantry weapons broken down and ready to post, but I have a question for the community: do you want the old star system? I have received several pms about keeping the star system for the pages that had them before my updates. I had originally removed the stars as I felt they are redundant, as the numbers are there. For the infantry weapons page, an accuracy rating of excellent with 5 stars is not that informative for me, as there is no information on how this value was derived. If a few people can give me a good reason or two for keeping them, I will gladly add the stars back in. Otherwise, I will will remove the stars but keep everything else when I update the infantry weapons page.
The stars where horribly outdated anyway, and its hard to meassure and compare the stuff with stars, they certainly look good, but I don't think that they are really useful.
