Thats a character that I just created to show the popup. I actually have a character with around 550 HP.
Left for dead style help boxes would fit in quite well, little messages like "This is the Vehicle factory, your team can build vehicles here", "Press use on this console to enter the vehicle creation menu" and "This is your teams command vehicle, keep it safe at all costs".
On first load after install a short tutorial should play that cannot be canceled. It should last less then 1.5 minutes. Then afterwards the normal empires startup happens.
Add more media to the gallery. One of the only things that decide whether or not to play a mod are the pictures and videos.
Yeah, but I mean Trickster's idea is terrible, reminds me of Gunbound... I mean being able to pick out veterans is a good thing, but like you've said it'll promote elitism.
Nah, they'd have to be written in Headshotmaster voice to truly be helpful. "WHEN I MEAN REVERSE SPAWN, I MEANT IT!!!!" "IS ENGLISH YOUR FIRST LANGUAGE, HELLO? OH IT ISNT, Sorry"
When you walk up to a destroyable bridge on isle, it has to go "Bridges are destroyable. Destroying one can have serious results." - Normal voice, then "WHY IS THE BRIDGE DOWN?" - HSM's voice.
Actually, we should make a thing on the wiki thats just a great big organized pile of protips. Theres about a million little tricks, sploits, skills, and combos that separate competent people from veterans, it would be alot easier to just go read them all then figure them out on your own. Then we could throw links at new players and hope they read it. Commanding Protips: -dont command unless you already know exactly what to do -You cant have too many raxes unless they block your tanks -watch for ninjas etc....
Im most likely taking a little hiatus so I'm going to make a bad ass engy guide... give me 2 to 3 weeks and I'll post the shit here
I been saying that for ages. It avoids the problem of most people being to impatient to read a manual. I've never worked with Source, but I'm pretty sure it's not a big deal from a programming point of view.
Textboxes?? pfff no thx you'd lose like 3/4 of the player base not everyone has super 1337 computers that can handle all that nextgen shit.
