Tweaks to squad mechanics since we arent going to get the massive overhaul we need

    but seriously, why not just give every player those active abilities? active abilities are a new fad in fps anyway and people seem to like it.

    i dont really think squads make teamwork, they mainly are a nice hint where to find your guys, and still could be used that way, why not.

    It would also have to be tested for unique combinations like scout, gren, engineer and rifle all using their squad effect at the same time

    lol i totally forgot there are 2 abilities per class ^^

    also gren has damage ... rifleman has charge and armor.

    lets recap:
    scout - recon, hide
    engi - heal, revive
    gren - damage, arty
    rifle - charge, armor

    so yeah, only arty is problematic, the rest is for 30s and could be kept up all the time already. i dont think it should stack for obvious reasons.
    (and for heal and revive stacking makes no sense anyway)

    and lazy, because we were talking about obscure mechanics in that other thread, theres no description of squadskills or auras ingame. its a good example of something not communicated well enough imo.

    Agreed, I'm still not entirely sure what some auras do, or at least the amounts. It's just a generic, damage or armor increase with no number to go along. Usually end up with the impression it doesn't do much at all.

    Last time i tested it it seemed to increase some weapons with a rough 20% in damage but some with a set amount of 4 or 5 damage (if weapon damage was made 50 for every weapon for example and damage upgrade was used some weapons would kill in 1 shot and others would do 55 damage)

    squadskills and auras could also use some particle effects to make them visible if empires takes this route. if more players can cast skills they are going to play a way bigger role.
    also even if they dont stack, im not sure if a full 20% increase - be it dmg, armor or whatnot - is a good amount if those skills are used a lot more (but its a testing thing)

    though ofc its also a matter of costs and point generation speed. and if you detach it from squads, even a matter of range.

    I wouldn't detach it from squad, and there is no reason why the powers would be used more... i suspect they would, but only marginally.

    idk you often see squads end up with a considerable amount of points at the end of a round. i suspect this would change a lot and if only because a change would shine light on squad skills.
    they are pretty underused on comm maps. so much that one might say district and escort are the only maps where people really use squadskills as part of a more general strategy.

    -squad points gained are increased slightly, but there is a cap of 45(30?) points, having more then this means your squad points are given to another squad mate.

    I use squad points when I can, it's just in a normal pub game I'm in squads that either don't generate points or I end up trying doing useful things that take me away from the squad, in which case I give lead to someone else. Seriously though squads of newer players just don't generate squad points so the squad lead who knows when and how to use squad points doesn't actually have any points to use. It's kinda why I like that suggestion about squad points being generated over time instead of how well a squad does, the innate team work that great squad play generates is enough of a reward, why do they also get infinite amounts of squad heals or something?

    Squad points are generated only if around the leader, correct? I think that should change. AMIRIT

    well it depends on the map a lot, if its chokepointy theres a higher chance people stick together so more squadpoints then on lets say duststorm where you can go everywhere.
    i like the idea of automatically generating points or even just a simple cooldown (in the end it would be about the same, except and thats why everyones gonna say no, for squadrevive where it wouldnt allow for pointless mass reviving into nuke explosions over and over again)
