Yeah its still very much alive and kicking.. CW left empires and they had what like 60 people? Even with that large chunk of quitters gone we still have 3-4 populated servers on any day of the week.. Thats a hell of a lot more then 1.7 had.. Evans just being a debbie downer as he likes to say..
Empires seems quite peachy to me. I think it's going to get stronger before it gets weaker too. Didn't someone check Steamstats and say we had more players than hyped-up ES?
Yeah that was me. We have at any given time at least 2x ES players and it was released a week or two ago?
Right now there are 31 on Empires and 16 on both ES and AoC, which were both released a couple of weeks ago.
31 and 16? Just means neither one is doing well. For the number of servers Empires always ends up having, there are very few players. The next release it getting to orange box, not features. Will that attract people? I doubt it
2.2 might not be a big release content wise but I think its going to include a lot of stuff that is going to help keep a player base. More balanced gameplay/scripts/tank combat and less wtf just happened? will go a long way to improving player base. TBH I think if an extra couple weeks had been spent on improving tank handling and balancing scripts for 2.0 we would have 2x the players at least. I mean look at UT3, there are only 1 maybe 2 servers full for each gamemode. This isn't the hl1 modding days where even a half assed buggy mod can attract multiple full servers.
We're not all gone. I still have hopes for 2.2 and faith in our new coders. We don't actually have that many people btw, a bunch of us left to form M.A.D, and others just left.
well 6-7 out of 60 isnt exactly a big bunch. but woot for ANY sort of dev team, whether we like them or not.

actually it should attract more people because servers will be more stable because of the multicore support in the OB code.. and of course the numerous other OB fixes that will benefits both us and the server admins
Yeah, because the OB engine shift will involve TOYSTORE \o/ support it will make games more fluent even there are a lot of TOYSTORE \o/s on the map rolling all over. So massive TOYSTORE \o/ wars are going to be very enjoyable now but only if the server has enough power in its all TOYSTORE \o/s.
I can't remember the flash video's name but there was a grandma, a young boy and a young girl in a car. The grandma was talking all kind of things and then she meantioned that what if she took them to toystore. The little girl was all TOYSTORE \o/ and the boy was exited too but then the grandma started to drive over young boys and other people and didn't agree to stop the car and so on. Finally she jumped out of the car while the car was rolling over children on kindergarten's yard and when the gas of the car finally ran out the car stopped near the big TOYSTORE \o/ where they were going. Too bad I can't remember its name. It just came in my mind and it is similar to Happy Tree Friends but a bit more mature. The little girl said TOYSTORE \o/ every once in a while when the grandma said certain words or something like that.
