Oh I know those. Yeah, if the bow has too much of a draw strength, then it will just break the wood cocker thing. And then you're screwed.
I have no idea how that started, but people fooled around with radium because it was a "cool shiny glow-y metal" to them but they didn't know how dangerous it was, or didn't care.
back then tobaco cured cancer and there was little laws regarding comercials... so yea... it was messed up.
